Hi, I could get a 5er Thumb NT with wenge fingerboard, new but old stock. I wonder if I should go for it or better take a current new one with ebony board? Anybody ever made a direct comparison? thanks, Nippes

Newbie: I just picked up a nice used Fretless Corvette Std. The black ebony fretboard has a small area a few inches long where the black (dye?) appears to be absent with the underlying wood grain visible. Is this a wear related thing? Any way to re-stain? Thx....

Today I've checked all drugstores around and found no lemon oil there. So I tried cleaning the fretboard with refined sunflower oil (there always is some in kitchen). Pretty the same effect but cheaper and no nice odour.

What does it mean when someone gets a satin finished fretboard? Is there any other fretboard finishes besides natural, satin, and high polish? If so what are they like?
