Cracked Fretboard

Like you all know I own a Thumbbass 6 string NT bass.
Bought NEW 2004.

It has red side dot Led's and Name plate.

I haven't used this bass for about a year and some month ago I took it out of it's hardcase to play it. (Been layin in my WARM Garage).
Almost started crying when I saw that the fingerboard was all cracked up.

From about the 7-9th fret up until 12th fret was 2 cracks.
From 14th fret up until 17th fret some cracks. And from 18th fret up until the body it was cracked..

How the HELL could something like this happend apon a bass that costs almost 5000 euros???

I have shipt it to Flaa Music here in sweden and the have shipt it to Warwick in germany. So I hope they still want me as a customer and fix this by replacing the fingerboard in someway.... :(
 
Well of wood is wood, could be bad luck? I am sure warwick will take care of you :)

I hate to be the jerk, but I think you answered your own question.

Hopefully Warwick will help you out with some new wood. :D
 
Let us know when Warwick fix or replace you bass Marc.
 
Wasn't is the bass you were supposed to sell to Patrik ?
 
I'd guess it must be due to humidity... even though the garage was warm. Obviously you can't be too careful... hope you get it sorted out ok.
 
I'm guessing left in a garage for a year type of problems won't be covered under any warranty.
 
Are you supposed to wax the fretboard? I know I wax my bass, but on the fretboard I use some lemon oil thingy. I guess that help against drying out too huh?

Wax = solid oil mate.
 
You don't necessarily need to wax the fretboard but a year of being in a case in the garage with weather changes could do damage. I remember I left an expensive sg ibanez guitar in a nice hardshell case for over 6 months in storage and it rained once in those six months. Well, six months later, the guitar was moist and every metal piece was rusted with the neck warped...it was never the same after that
 
I like to add, My garage is IN MY HOUSE..
Same heat as I have IN my house. That is 20-22 degrees cellsius..

So NO more damage in garage or indoors here..

Waxing the fretboard?
Naaahh, like the most of you guys now I've Owned about 20-25 Warwicks or more.. Never WAX a fretboard..

Haven't got any pictures sorry..

The bass should have been sold to Patrik. :(
 
The board shouldnt crack just from not being waxed or oiled.It's ebony,which is very tough.I think this would've cracked regardless of where it was kept.
Shit happens.
 
Same here..

My thoughts are that the cabels for the side LED's are the problem..

Maybe the cabels are laying to tight so the fretboard has cracked because of this..

I have another bass with LED's, it I adjust the Neck on that bass the LED's stop working. Not a good LED jobb on that bass tho but could be a simular problem on the warwick Thumb..
 
Come to think of it my Washburn Stage has been in the basement for 3 years, rosewood board, but you get the idea and the board is still fine.
 
You kinda scare me... I'm planning on getting LED's on my next CS bass, I wouldn't like my fretboard to crack... :shock:
