Yeah, Ben Kenney is also a great bass player. Reallt smooth lines as well. His style just gravitates more towards how Incubus sounds now.

HOWEVAH, I think he uses too many effects, and sometimes overplays the soft parts on the older songs.

That would be so cool man. Too bad December is a VERY BUSY period at work, but I'll do my best to come and see you if you ever play here.
 
Just listened to L.D.50 start to finish and have to vote for Ryan Martine. Damn! the effortless moves between melody and brutality and from funk to furious riffing is technically and creatively brilliant.
And i think Paul Gray was a greatly underrated bass player. There was a great interview with him (behind the music i think) where he explained why he went to Ibanez. He said that he loved wicks but ibanez offered better support in case he trashed basses. (makes sense IMHO if you are hard on axes, do hundreds of venues per year etc it might be hard to get a thumb NT or SSII to a small town on bugger all notice)
Seems like he was a great guy to boot. He will be missed

So, i have been browsing over Youtube,and i think TM Stevens is a super endorser for Warwick, to see him go off every time he is playing is really inspiring and exhilarating.

Also he need an honorable mention bringing musical styles together like (slap)Funk and metal. that has not been done than much just look at this:

TM isn't just a great bass player, he's the ideal spokesperson for the brand! If anyone here hasn't heard the way TM speaks about Warwick, then look for the videos! He is easily the most passionate endorser of any brand. He speaks as if he personally works on each individual product himself. TM is very proud to be an endorser.
 
I wonder why TM left Warwick for a while to have Cort make Signature Basses for him. I guess he left when he heard about what was going on with the workers there, but still...

I remember seeing old cort signature models being sold cheap on ebay not long after TM's Warwick signature came out. Either he's always be with Warwick and Cort made fake signature basses, or he was with them and it seems no one here remembers that.
 
I guess he had a short stint with Cort, look at the shocka zooloo album, there he plays Cort. but i do not know more than this... maybe some other forum member can enlighten us?

TM's association with Cort was some time ago now. He was also a long time endorser of Ampeg, but things change. This time for the better;). TM was with Warwick from the early 80's & his deal with Cort was for a few years during the 90's.iirc
LONG before Cort's trade practices came to the attentions of the rest of the world, & while they still had a Korean factory.
Speculating TM took a stance against Cort for this reason is pure guess work Lane. A good guess, but still a guess. Well done btw :)
These endorsements, between musician & company have a duration. They're by no means there for life. An example of this is Seth Horan. Seth started what TM is doing now, travelling the world, doing bass clinics/concerts, promoting Warwick gear, usually held in a dealers showroom. Seth's also a singer/songwriter, so it worked well for both him & Warwick. At the end of Seth's contract, renewal didnt happen. I have no idea why, just the way it is I suppose. Seth still owns & plays Warwick basses, along with a JC custom he recently had built. iirc he hooked up with PJB at the last NAMM show. So it goes to show you, that things like this are never, "forever".

IMHO, TM's playing has always been exceptional. The man played with Steve Vai FFS!! If ya listen to his WW/Ampeg tone, it's beautiful. Then listen to his Cort/Ampeg tone, which is still good, but it aint the WW/Hellborg tone, which is purely sublime. I think if I could have one bass teacher, for all eternity, it would definatly be TM Stevens. Not only coz his ability is incredible, but his personality always seems to lift my enthusiasm,motivation,inspiration & always has this," wanting to grab my bass, & play" effect on me.

I misunderstood your post "I guess he left when he heard about what was going on with the workers there, but still... " as referring to workers at Warwick, not Cort. Others have posted on this forum in an inflammatory manner with regard to Warwick, and I thought this was the same. Had I known you were referring to Cort instead I wouldn't have responded in this way.

Hey, man, it's all good. I wasn't all the way sure about the whole Deal with TM, but I was wondering why he went back and forth with WW and Cort. Corts been going under fire for mistreatment of employees as of late and thats what I was talking about, heh.

Thanks for giving some cool details, Greg. And I didn't know Seth isn't a contracted Endorsee anymore. It's a shame how things have to end at times.

And I'd definately like to have TM as a Teacher... Anyone taking Bootsy's Funk U? I heard Claypool, Divinity, and TM are all guest teachers/professors of funk there. I'm not, but was thinking about it. Would be sweet right? 3 of Warwicks finest teaching us the funkiest funk there is? :d
