Vintage Streamer Stage I in concert

Went to a Manfred Mann's Earth Band concert this sunday night, in Soenderborg, Denmark (exellent concert) to find that bassplayer Steve Kinch still uses his '86 Streamer, which i think he got shortly after joining MMEB in 1986.

I took a couble of pics. showing MMEB, Steve and his faithfull old companion.
 
I can only see the bass in the top pic but man,it's a good lookin old Streamer.
 
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but only just came across it. The following may be of some interest to the OP.

That Streamer was given to me by Hans Peter in 1986 and had been my trusty No.1 bass until last year. I don't recall ever using any other bass on stage (couple of thousand gigs) until 2011. It's now been semi-retired, although I still have it on the road as a spare.

Considering the the time it's spent on the road and the number of gigs it's done, it's in surprisingly good condition. However, It has taken one or two tumbles (thanks to big-footed stage crew). Several years ago it was knocked out of its stand which snapped the headstock. After a failed attempt at repair (lasted about 2 months) It was suggested that to make the repair as strong as possible carbon fibre could be used. This was carried out, so now the back looks as though the neck is morphing into a lizard :eek:
Since semi-retiring the Streamer I'm now using a , a little heavier but feeling great and sounding wonderful.

As for gigs... but gigs are coming in all the time, so check back from time to time.

That's an amazing looking repair job. I've never seen anything like it.
*i wonder if it brings out the mids ;)
 
It probably cleans up the tone a smidgen like those Modulus basses. They always sounded too clean and bright for me but just a little taste of carbon fiber probably helps lol.

I mean; that repair looks cool, nice bass man.
 
That repair is awesome, I've never seen something like that before.
