Tuning key issues on a Corvette Std 6

Howdy. My Corvette Std 6 has an issue with its tuning keys. I'll try to explain:

The tuners are held to the bass by two pieces of hardware: a small screw and a 15mm nut-like thing attached to a sleeve that goes around the tuning post. While changing the strings I noticed that all three of the treble-side keys and two on the bass side were loose and could rock back and forth readily. So, I located a 15mm socket and tried to tighten them by hand (no wrench or ratchet, just the socket and my fingers). It seems the nut-like sleeve or the part it screws into is stripped out, as if it were over-torqued. I ended up replacing one tuner with a spare I keep handy for things like this.

Is there any warranty on the hardware? The bass was made in 2006.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tim,
Are you the original owner of the bass & did you buy it new from a Warwick dealer?
If you answered yes to both,your bass is covered by a 2 year warranty.
Refer to your user manual for full instructions on how to claim for warranty & dont forget,you'll need you receipt.

Same happend to me

Hi,

I had the very same thing with my Corvette STD made in December 2006. When I was changing strings for a second time to that bass, first JANII cracked and then I noticed E-string machine was loose. Well I got it warranty replaced ( from Thomann it worked perfectly ), actually both.

I just sold it ( to finance my Streamer...) and new owner claimed, that rest three of the heads were similar as this one. When comparing this "nut" part to the one already changed, he noticed it was something like 1,5mm shorter in those old ones. That's the reason why it cannot be tighten properly. I'm not sure have there been bad quality machine heads during some specific period of time, or what it is, but I believe it's the same thing in your case... possibly.

If you bought it from Thomann, they have voluntary 3 year warranty to all items, what they sell. Those two basses in my undersign I have bought from different dealer, other than Thomann, so I'm not their spokesman, but I appreciated them a lot, that they keep what they promise
