Transforming an Rockbass Corvette 5 into ............ ?

..today a little sneak preview from the headstock
(without the brass-Nut, expecting it comes tomorrow)

Nice. That woody look is awesome.
Too bad the veneer was a tad short on the side... Maybe you can try some sanding on the edges to give a "binding" look ?
(not that i want to criticize the work you've done, especially wih the really awful carnage I made with my headstock this week end... )
 
i know what you mean :) but the verneer is broken after glueing durng cutting the bevel, so i have yet sanded it round, but i don't want to sand it binding, because it will change the original shape of the Wick Head..so it's not so bad to see a little black. the same happened to the upper right corner.. the verneer was so dry and even with a sharp exacto Blade it can happen often, that it brakes during cutting curves...this can happen if a fibre from the wood is exactly in the way you want to cut and it brakes....

when all is finished you can see that it is not as bad in total appearence ;)

How on earth do you do the gold plating?

it's easy ;)

there are enamel paints for model crafting kits. This gold is absolutly stunning for be a paint.
After dipping the screwheads in the paint, i have let cure 1 hour and then dipped in boiled linseed-Oil for more shining and more golden tone (boiled linseedoil is amber toned)

It's just a smigy tad too dark for me, but still, looks sooo kewl. Will wait for the outdoor pics to confirm color :-)
