The Heads Up Thread

Hmmm yeah, it's a few hundred overpriced, but IMO not insanely so.

(That Infinette sold BTW)

GAD DAYM gaddam gaddam gaddam

That's a fair price, I'm sure you can win it for the opening bid and would have got a good deal.

Some people don't "understand" the used market. Everyone thinks they're special.

Or, they're just clueless. For example, a few months back a dude was selling a mint condition Thumb NT for $500 less than the new price. His rationale was that since his bass was "basically new", he'd offer a slight discount on the new price.

Yeah it's funny you say that fitzy. I'm dealing with this situation now with 2 people as you may know I'm on the hunt for 6sers. But what I've noticed with both is that they honestly don't understand the used market. What they both have done is taken the bass back to the music store they brought it from new and where they "got a great deal" (sure) and got it valued. The workers go oh well the RRP of a LX is 5k or whatever so yours is defiantly worth 3-4k!!! And tell them to not accept anything less. (Who in their right mind would pay that for a LX??) when I do speak to them about price and the used market, and make a reasonable and realistic offer (very politely to not insult) they are gob smacked that they aren't being offered 3-4k like they expect and then go and copy paste the warwick product blurbs from the website and try to educate me. Oh and not to mention not budging on the price what so ever.

Defiantly fustrating to deal with because if forces us to buy correctly priced warwicks from overseas but forcing us Aussies to pay massive shipping and tax charges, but I'm now looking at a custom shop 6 string corvette with LEDs in aust that is about half the price of this fellows LX.

second market for me is very easy...if any goods are not min. 50 % discont from the original price, it's not worth for me to deal in/with....

if an Car that costs 30000 € new, after a couple years are only 15 K worth..so why don't the same on guitar/Bass..even in mint condition these are used goods...

Did someone on here get the Infinette? I was in discussion re. shipping/taxes etc and it dropped off ebay!

That works...ish. However, supply and demand (X desirability) dictates prices; if a bass is rare/limited edition/vintage/custom then it could well be that folks will pay more for an item. The bass that I am looking to secure cost £1200 when new in 91, I am prepared to pay that much now for a used example that is 24 years old. There aren't many about so I expect to have to pay a decent amount, if it were a bass that was off the shelf and still in production then I'd have my choice of a few and expect the price to be lower.

The odd thing about the Warwick market is that 'vintage' in itself doesn't guarantee a higher price tag as per say Fender and as for 'custom' options, there are times when a customers factory changes can make something worth less than a standard model. :)

I've seen many people bid on that LX then reach the end. Then pop up again. I recon he is getting all his mates or his other accounts in a bid to boost up the price of the auction. When it dosent, re list. That's my 2cents.

Looks like it finally sold.

As warwickhunt said, sometimes it works, sometimes don't. I just bought a DIstressor new, because a 2nd hand one is probably 15- 20% cheaper :-)

Holy ♣♣♣♣, a reverse Buzzard ! :-)
