The Heads Up Thread

:-)

Ok, as the forum admin it is my duty to say it is a joke, before someone to believe and buy it :-)

Spotted an SWR Mo'bass amp for 650 euros on the dutch forum.
As these are highly sought after by bassists who are into electronic stuff I thought I'd let yous in on this...

Does anyone have any info on this bass, is it a limited edition Corvette of some kind or other? I noticed there is another compartment next to the battery door, what is that exactly? Was that an aftermarket upgrade or did Warwick make these, and if so what's in it?

Thanks

the listing says Thumb but it's a Corvette/Proline body

@ Bassfingers: that looks like pretty heavily modded old vette. Wenge neck, but the pups are probably replacements (look like barts), it looks like there is an extra knob (asymetrical pot placement) the extra comaprtment is not original and the knobs are different as well. Might be cool, but as the seller thinks its a thumb it likely they have no idea what the mods are....bit of a gamble

It certainly isn't a Thumb bass that is for sure! LOL

That 'cover' on the back is defo not original or done by Warwick. I can only assume that it is for a battery to power LEDs or they have messed about with the electrics and need 18v

Damn, just the kind of deal I'm looking for and I have the cash! :0(

I am willing to help you.

It is important to know: I haven't seen the bass so I do not guarantee anything, just passing information and now offering you help. I know that bass is located in willage Krupanj (150-160km away from Belgrade).

I could ask for an e-mail of seller or his relative/friend/etc. Then you could ask for more pictures, and additonal information of any kind. I can translate to serbian if that person do not know english (I wish he does to awoid my responsibility) but I will help and translate if needed.

If you got close to deal, I am willing to travel to that willage or ask seller to bring it to Belgrade and then try to, as good as I can, inspect bass and find hidden problems if any... Again, I am not professional so it could not be good enough for your standards..

Just willing to help if you want.. I will send you this as PM also.

Thanks, yeah I knew it wasn't a thumb. The sellers are pawnbrokers so they don't know what they have.

If it weren't for that cutout on the back it may have had a real chance. They were better off cutting a rectangle and using a black plastic cover like the original compartment instead of using the wrong wood grain. If all else is in good working order that bass can be redone with a good 400-600 grit initial sand down, then finished off with 1000-2000.

Seems that some people are true optimists...

If you have ! - Oh, no, it's not a Fortress at all! It's a Masterman!

That guy must think that Fortress was made by Fender... perhaps...

Fender, Fodera, Warwick, Wambaugh... Who cares? It's a MASTERMAN, and it's a steal for 3k! Go for it, Andy! :D
