The Heads Up Thread

owww. I have 5 string restoration too because of my current 5 string... What a beauty!

Seems too good to be true guys, be warned.

These are the chances I use to take. First owner who just wants to sell his working horse. I´m quite sure the offer is o.k.. But ofc it´s always good to be careful.

Warwick Fortress 4 Saiter - selektiertes Modell - Made in Germany

Circa 95-96 Corvette Standard wenge that the seller thinks is a Fortress. Satan hardware. 500 euros only.

I recently acquired a Corvette just like this one, a '96 model. Same three piece body constuction. The tone is not as big as other Warwicks, apparently because of the slim 4-strings "only" neck. But oh my, what a tone that is. Round fuzzy lows and beautiful low mids, high mid scoop, beautiful treble snap. It's the best bass I currently own. Get it.

That's a really old one with super skinny neck and no volute I believe.

Also the seller is letting go of all his gear because of an amputated finger. How sad :(

It's sad indeed... About the bass, it does have a volute. The neck is very slim and very stable, at least on my bass. It's fantastic. The tone is not as big as a typical fiver with a big neck but it's really beautiful to hear. It's simple and you instantly know what the bass has to say, it gets the message across. A typical ovangkol neck for example is more long winded, more complex mids with some honkiness someone might want to dial out.

Since you guys all know my Streamette is up for sale, I thought you guys would get a kick out of the message I received from some clown that accompanied his lowball offer.....

Send me the persons name and what his offer was. I suspect it's the same prick I dealt with last fall (he said the exact same thing!)

Tire kickers...where would the world be without them?

I can't believe you still have this bass!

OMG I CAN'T !!! Now he works for Warwick. Ready?

I do work for Warwick, not since the bass was built, but I contacted my boss, Hans Peter Wilfer, the owner of Warwick in Germany, and he confirmed what I already suspected, that it is not a Limited, but a mere special series produced in a limited number, and that it was produced prior to 2001. Serial number on back of head stock should end in 01 if it would be a 2001.
I guess the company's owner does not know what he is talking about

Hehe....what's his lowball offer, if you don't mind us asking?

Rather not say, but let's say it was quite a bit less than the rock bottom price BA and I have bounced around for the respective basses. I looked his profile up. Turns out he has an online shop located in CA which may or may not be a Warwick Authorized dealer. Doesn't exactly qualify him as "working for Warwick" or make HPW his "boss".
