The Heads Up Thread

If someone on this board were interested in it, I'd come down a bit. One sold for $1700 believe it or not. If I get a reasonable offer it's gone. I loved this bass for sure, but my office looks like who did it and ran because of all my gear and I just don't like the idea of this one a) sitting in a case all the time and b) going to a gig in a bar and having something happen to it. I've been favoring my carolena bodied Streamer STD 5 from 2000 and I also have my Fortress One 4 that was set up by Joe Mauldin of The Crickets before he died. If you see my avatar, I've had a LOT of W's pass through my door but the Corvette LTD (sorry but I have always hated the name Streamette) has always remained. It's time though. My wife is pretty annoyed with me over selling it... I just posted MUCH better photos.

Where did the one sell for 1700? I'd love to see a link. If I lower mine to 1100, it will sell in a heartbeat, as most do, but 1250 for mine is my true "I won't so no" number, while also being close to a price I can get before the sun eats itself.

Pretty sure it was reverb. I have to look it up but I couldn't believe it myself. I threw it up there at $1600 and figured if a decent offer came in it's gone. I hear you on the $1250. Once you go below that you're pretty much dumping it which is really a bummer. I'll see if I can find the link if I get some down time today.

Unfortunately warwicks don't hold their resale value as well as many people would like. That however, is why I tend to buy used unless I know it's going to be an instrument that stays with me for the long term.

Believe it or not, the Corvette ltd was my first Warwick and the only one I bought brand new. Every other one I have bought has been used. Some I've made money on when they sold, most didn't. Like I said, the price on reverb is basically there for people to throw offers at. Funny how they show up though. You either see none or you get 5 in a row

Stunning, but that price is eye watering!!

Indeed a stunner, I saw this bass in the flesh when I recently picked up an '89 Thumb from the same seller. A nice guy and I believe also a member of this forum...

Ali's 5th anni is worth a lot as it is in awesome shape, has quite the history and is very rare.

I can't help but notice the number of well known, enthousistic W playing forummers (myself included) turning away from Warwicks keeps increasing. What's up with that?

Any 5th anniversary would be in awesome shape if it were refinished. Very rare basses but condition kinda means nothing but a few hundred to it value.

Crazy, crazy money.

There are way more luthiers and brands now that offer very good basses with different aesthetics than when I bought my first Warwick. I can easily think of at least 20 basses I would like to buy right now that didn't exist or I didn't know of or wasn't reachable when I got my first Warwick. If I were to buy my first good bass now, I don't know if I would buy a W.

Also, trading and buying used basses is more safe now, I think. So it is easier to decide to let go a bass and buy another one if you want to try.
Don't know if that can be said about the 5th anniversary, though. You can't buy it back if you miss it. Too scarce to find.
If you sell it, probably it doesn't get played anymore.

Warwicks are great, as many other basses out there. Lucky us, we are living in a golden age of bass manufacturing. :)

Times keep on changing. You, Ali, Sascha and others were enthusiasts already when I stepped in. So there is not only a loss of Warwick-heads. With my CS I´m now tied to the brand for the rest of my life me thinkz. Even though I keep my head up too!

You people are just confused, you will come to your senses eventually. :p

I always compare what other brand I consider buying to a Warwick. like, if I was to buy $1300 for a stingray, I'd go hummm ...I can find high end wicks for that type of cash, :)

I do the same thing. Speaks volumes about something when it becomes the standard of measurement, even if there's better things than that something.

Yes there has been some stupid bargains in Aus lately, i just didn't bite due to being sent to the dog house. :/
