The Heads Up Thread

I don't blame you. I'm sure he is as 'official' as Warwick Depot down in Texas...b-stock curved neck dana b. goods mess

Well, you've got it priced solidly. It's what the Streamette's have been going for the last several years. Still, I'm shocked that it's hanging around! Taxes maybe? I thought you'd have it gone pretty quick.

The dude who messaged me offered 500. I decided to publicly shame his ass and put his name and message in the for sale posting with a tag that said "if you're as done as this guy, don't bother messaging me. Research this bass before you throw me an offer"

The stuff from Warwick Depot is pretty good. A friend has bought s few things off him and they have been fantastic.

That's cool man. I've heard a few horror stories and HPW hates the guy, but I haven't played any of the NOS stuff he received from Dana B. Goods.

Not sure what happened with Dana and Warwick, but he was really good to me. Took care of a warranty part in a day and if not for him I would never have known how rare this bass is. I just sold my Fortress One yesterday. I'm gonna give this one another few days and may just take it off the market for a while.

I love the barter when I sell basses. Experts coming in and trying to teach me about the bass I'm selling and offering low balls, especially if the other party get really worked up, I love it haha

Mark's a great guy. I got my NOS '07 LTD from him at a ridiculous price. It's perfect. Perfect in every way. Fast, totally pro packaging and shipping as well. Where is the proof of these horror stories, SG? Genuinely curious. I remember you mentioned it a year ago or so as well. I have proof of him being a straight shooter. Never seen proof otherwise. I know one other guy on Talkbass that also bought a '07 LTD from him. Guy said it was also perfect. I can point you to his posts.

Not trying to offend you my man...I just hate to see good people slandered with no proof....ya know :) I'd love to see all these warped necks if they really do exist. Open mind here :)

Sorry guys, I have no personal experience with Mark @ Warwick Depot, but this is straight from HPW:

"- The Warwick Depot
please believe me .. the "Warwick Depot" made a lot of bad things against our brand.. not only that
Dana B Good sold "products" which are not sellable.. or defective products.. the demage was huge
and where costing me millions since this time to rebuilt our Name in the USA.. just since a year
we over this desaster ... and the Warwick Depot is just an Wheeler Dealer and even stoled our
name and where using my good name to make money on every shit..
"

That was from an email back in 2015. Again, not trying to talk down on Warwick Depot, I just figured that if HPW/Warwick had some bad blood with it, it was probably best to avoid.

Thanks for sharing some good stories about the guy! It's making me re-think my opinion on it and WD is not that far from me down in Texas. Might be worth a trip down there sometime. :)

E-Bass - WARWICK - 5 Saiter

Yeah I've messaged him but he isn't responding, I guess that means he is either getting lots of hits or just doesn't want to go Overseas

Just at least a message back would be nice...

Interesting. Never seen or heard HP talk like that. I still have to wonder if it was more due to just a falling out between HP and Dana over bizz, or actual defective Wicks being sold, that set HP off. Simply because from my experience, BA's friend and that guy on TB, all receiving perfect basses from the lot Dana sold to Mark. Could just be a case of bitter bizz etc. Also, Mark has never bad mouthed HP as far as I know...or been dishonest about the fact that he got a bunch of stuff from Dana, when he stopped being Wicks official US Distributor. And Mark has never been so big as to have any inpact on nationwide sales. No chance. Mark told me he has no interest in continuing to sell any more Wicks, than the load he got from Dana in '09....and his website reflects that. Stock is dwindling. Just 5 Wicks left as of today.

I spoke to Dana when I got my '06 Thumb, as he was the one who shipped it to me. From my experience, he was a solid guy as well. I'd think HP switching to US Music Corp as his US Distributor, would have been the thing that actually hurt HP's sales here (in the short term at least)....because Dana B Goods was/is more well known and was based in LA. Maybe HP was simply peeved because Dana sold away stock, that HP wanted to goto US Music Corp and it's dealers. Just pure speculation on my part.

Hmmm interesting though. Thanks for the response, SG :)

Oh and btw...Mark just ships out of his house in Dallas. There's no retail store. Before you head that way looking for one :)

Didn't I see a post a while back about the Warwick company acquiring a huuuuge building somewhere in the Americas? Maybe they are taking matters into their own hands distribution wise?

They did. I seem to recall that article said it was more specifically for Framus axes. Maybe to help promote that brand in the US. I think :)

Interesting. Why were the alleged items being sold defective in the first place?

I think even with that email from HP above (whenever and whoever it was sent to)....the story seems a bit fuzzy. Simply because as you may have read in my posts, there are perfect Wicks that were purchased from that whole situation (myself, Boston's friend, guys on TalkBass)...and I still have yet to see any proof of defective Wicks being sold from the lot that Dana sold to Mark (Warwick Depot). This is pure speculation on my part, but it could "possibly" be that HP just felt he got shafted in other business terms and lashed out against Dana and Warwick Depot. Until I see proof of actual warped necks etc...I think that may be the case here. Again...pure speculation and I could be completely wrong. Maybe some defective stuff was indeed sold.

I'm skeptical about the part in the email were HP says he lost millions over this trying to rebuild Warwick's name in the US. Warwick has never had a strong presence in the US, mainly due to HP's own lack of wanting to really promote the brand over here. We still see that today, with no US based website/online shop and no real marketing of any significance etc. Which he and Jon from Nashville has said is coming for many years now....but still nothing. Can't blame that on Dana or Warwick Depot. Anyhoot....I'll leave it at that. Just my opinion...and I could be wrong :)

HPW's skills in writing English aren't this good, so the letter by itself makes me wonder or even doubt if he would have ever written it.

Not stating facts here just saying how I feel about the situation.

Ah man I've been gassing hard for these buzzards these days . One day i will!
