The Heads Up Thread

Damn....total score dooderz! Congrats! Looks to be in great shape. Tabs are gone from the JAN2, which means the strings have been changed at least once in it's life :p And also, it has a pretty unique "W" on the headstock. Must just be the pattern of Abalone...but that middle part is so light, it's almost invisible in the pic. Cool beans!
Tabs are intact, "W" on headstock is just a weird piece of abalone but not damaged or anything, and not a scratch on this thing. Not one single flaw I could find. Frets aren't even very tarnished, let alone green like some of them I've seen over the years.

Oh nice... Intact JAN2 is worth the price you paid alone ;)

Wow, total minty score. Well done.

A thousand thanks, kind sir. New Yellow Labels should be here shortly and then I'll get it all polished up and prettified for a photo shoot ;)

Lovely ocean mammal up for sale on the Bay. It's got some wear and needs some work apparently...but doesn't seem too bad.

EDIT: Confirmed, strings have never been changed.... Fully intact JAN2!! Worth every penny of that $2900.

That's is a stupidly high price for something that the seller admits he didn't really take the best care of.

Yup. The good news is, if you can sell Dolphins at that price, I'm potentially rich.
I'd prefer to buy them cheaper and keep'em, so I'm poor for real. :-)

Yeah, I've noticed Thumbs seem to be selling for quite a bit more than just a year ago. It's kind of bitter sweet....as you want your Wick's value to increase, but you don't want them to be too expensive to buy.

I'm not worried about my warwicks going up in value, but it it nice to see a new Warwick retain more resale value than it used to.

What do you guys make of this '87 Streamer? I feel like I've seen this before, but can't find any evidence of it online, except for this ad. Seems like a good deal at $1400, even with the odd knob and painters tape on the back

Warwick Streamer 4-String Bass White 1987 (s031)

Little bit of a head scratcher when I first saw it. I guess the pups were replaced with MEC's. As I thought MEC pups were introduced sometime in '88. And no "Warwick" stamped on the bridge. I thought all one piece bridges in '87 had that stamp. '84, '85, part of '86...no stamp. Interesting. Fun stuff :)

I believe that is a 4-string Jimmy Earl model. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Jimmy Earl version has a 2-band in it.
