The Heads Up Thread

I can highly recommend Sound of Music (Hans Schweizer) for anyone in Stuttgart or thereabout. Just visited a few hours ago, and here are the most outstanding specimens:
1. 7-string Streamer Stage I
2. 5-string Streamer Stage I (maple neck/FB, ash body wings, narrow spacing)
3. Two 4-string Streamer LX's - one gloss black, maple neck, wenge FB, one gloss blue transparent QUILTED maple top, ebony FB, maple neck.
4. 4-string Fortress Masterman
5. 5-string Thumb NT in all white glossy finish.
6. 5-string Streamer Stage I - ocean blue oil finish, wide spacing, bartolinis

All of these were apparently new, and from 92-95! Condition on most of them was very good, albeit the naked wood was a bit dry and some of the pots in need of TLC. Take a look if you're in the area!

Were they all hidden in a warehouse somewhere? There is a Russian guy on reverb.com selling NOS warwicks from 7=8 years ago, apparently thats his story...they are legit too, a friend bought one for cheap.

Apparently the owner had been buying up stock since the 80s and stashed a bunch of basses in a rear storage, forgot about them for about twenty years, then stumbled upon them when they renovated the store.

Also - it's deffo not a J Earl; it was from around 94 IIRC and thus predated any sig by a margin.

james earl was the first 5 String signature bass
only one run from 93

^my bad, but still - I havent seen any Jimmy Earl sigs with a visible NT and ash body wings. Might be a super-rare one off of the sig, but I'd guess a Streamer stage I with narrow spacing still.

He has a fair few nice 6 stringers.. Bit more than the average price for a proline corvette though

sure with ash wings, maple fb, 3band pre and j pups = jimmy earl signature spec ;)

- another one that he is selling. Complete restore.

I think the price is way too high for a bass that is not in original shape, and has being restored and refinished, IMO.

Fair point - this thought happens all the time in modded cars. Just because you like the upgrades doesn't mean the buyer will nor should pay for it.

Reminds me of the time this dude was selling an American Deluxe P-Bass for $3k, since it had an "upgraded" neck to a Warmoth birdseye maple, as well as a home-made satin refin.

A few things,

Why wouldn't you wait for the bass to finish before listing it for sale and getting photos. Instead of posting an add explaining yourself why you haven't.

And why would someone invest 5k into a custom bass he has had for 10 years and have a price tag of half and want to sell it before its even finished..???

Sounds like BS to me
