What could it be??? It involves ovankol and is something alot of you asked about in the custom shop :)

Yet another mod to turn my thumb into a somewhat boutique bass... all done with hand tools...

What could it be?

If it's an ovangkol butt plug just remeber,insert WITH the grain. :wink:
 
She gave it away! So yeah... it's and ovankol electonic panel made out of a slightly figured peice so it matches the bass pretty good :)

Well so much for that... It didnt work right... Everything fit properly but no way to attach it... and after 3 hours of trying to figure it out the frustration got to me and the cover is now trash... I'll post pics though of the process later.

Alright here are the pictures... I'm going to attempt this again later today but take a little bit different approach. After seeing one of the birdsong basses being built I'm going to attach the electronic panel in a similar way :)

Luckily I had bookmatched peices of figure ovankol :)

So, If I re-do it and it works... I'll post yet more pictures :)

I'm at work right now... I think once I'm back at the house I'll start in on the new electronic panel. Although this one will similar to this one:



If you look down below you will see the electronic panel sits ontop of the bass instead of being recessed into the body, I'm going to do the same thing but I will be rounding the edges of the panel so it flows a little better. That birdsong bass at first glass was an ugly peice of wood... But it's really starting to grow on me :P
