Do not come here to kill time with a valid credit card! I was here today for a quick half hour. Florin, you were correct about the Hellborg system! I was the only one in the shop at the time so, I turned it up a pinch:evil: ....Damn! Imagine playing any Warwick you like and not be able to think of a single cool thing to play! Anyway, I went to try out a P-Nut bass like the one I've been flirting with on ebay! I can honestly say, it was the first time I haven't thought about another SS2. I even compared it to a SS2 5 just sitting there with a big a$$ brass nut and a few others. I instantly knew I had to try and get one of these.

Thanks, sorry for the attachments, still not working... grrr.

Which version, mk I, II or III?
That would be III. I think I read somewhere that it's not exactly your cup o' tea but that's part of the reason I went. There are so few sound clips and different opinions, so, I had to see for myself. I'm not sure if it was the bass alone, or because I got to test through the Hellborg system but it had such a sophisticated growl, I'm sure it would have won more people over if experienced the same way. What really won me over was when I compared it to the SS2 and really liked it more.

imo the mk III has the most sopisticated sound of the III (probably due to the SD electronics)

$3200 unplayed with user manual, certificate of authenticity, flight case and free shipping from Fisheye sales.

I wouldn't say that I don't like it if I didn't play one beforehand.

I did play one at the custom shop in NYC. It plays great, looks great, but sounds weak and scooped. And it buzzed.

First I didn't like the Pnut III sound but the more I listen to it the more I'm starting to respect that very weird sounding contraption.

Funny thing is that we probably played the same bass too. The thing that stood out for me was the powerful output and the "voice" of the bass. I was actually expecting weak output like my FNA Jazzman had. I really didn't expect to like the bass so much and I'm glad I had the chance to test it for myself before buying on ebay. I don't need to defend the bass, I mean, you like what you like right? Two people can feel differently about the same thing. This is what musical taste is all about. I hope the one I get sounds as good as the one I tried. Oh yeah, since I've been gigging , I've learned to appreciate tone over output since the sound guy tends to lower a hot signal and boost a lower one and the tone comes through. I thought the bass had tremendous output and tone but even if it had low output, I would turn up the amp. I'm still diggin that LX5 too!

I didn't like any of the sound clips I heard on You tube. To me, it sounds nothing like those.

Did you try the $$ NT bubinga as well? I have found some clips on the tube, but not all that great recording or just way too fast playing to my normal style :)
