Well I am not a Democrat or Republican or a Nazi or a Communist or whatever other narrow minded label anyone can come up with to describe the complex political affiliations of a free mind. As for a minority...what exactly is that? Rich people in this country are minorities, (about 2% of this country's population are considered rich). So I guess I'm not a minority either.

I do not suggest free handouts to the lazy. I just think that the wealthy should pay for the wars they promote to maintain their interests abroad, not the poor. The poor fight and die in the rich man's wars, why make them pay for them as well?
Not all the money from taxes goes to welfare, so lets get past that shall we? Most of this country's tax budget goes to the military. The military is told what to do by Congress and the Executive branch. Those organizations are run by, and influenced by the top wealthy people in this country. They should pay the highest taxes to cover the decisions they make on 'our' behalf.
You want to pay for another Middle-East war fought by poor hicks-from-the-sticks to maintain oil interests of the top 2% in this country then by all means make your donation to the local chapter of the NeoNazi oops, typo, NeoConservative party headquarters.

And just as many people benefit from welfare as abuse it, just like the laws in this country are used and abused by the wealthy and influential.

That said, I do respect your opinions Boston and offer mine with all respect. I just love healthy, spirited debate!

I really am sick of the handouts government gives and how they dictate what we can do. Government was not formed t provide us with freedom, but to protect the freedom we have as human beings. And in this country, the government, local or federal, is no longer doing that. They are taking control of daily lives, and it needs to end.

I think this is going a bit general. The poing of redistributing money, it is called "tax" btw, is to make people, foremost children, who are born into a poor standard of living, a better chance of growing up with enough food, a place to live, education and safe housing. What they do when they turn 18, is up to them. And free/cheap health care. What your government calls "socialized medicine", which works really well in Europe, but seem to make the capitalists shiver in the US. You might enlighten me, as I don`t know too much about how your government really does it.

"Protecting freedom" is such a subjective thing, but to me it seems it`s mostly about keeping the citizens at the edge of their seats, while maintaining "american interests" in order to make corporate profit.

That you seriously want a government with McCain/Palin in it, is way past my comprenhension. He has proven to be a liar, and should`ve gone down with one of the many planes he crashed. Palin doesn`t seem to know how to count to ten without removing her socks.

But the positive thing is, your Alaska-Russia-relationship will get much better.

Obama wants to give tax rebates to people who do not even pay federal income tax. how does he plan to do that? Tax people who make over 250k a year MORE to do so. He also wants to put more tax burden on those 250k+ winners and allow the middle class to pay less. Im sorry, but I do not see why someone should have to pay more tax just because they make more money. That is penalizing them for their success and that is not what the government should be doing.

AS for another poster's communism comment, youre right, it wont go as far as communism, but it certainl reeks ofsocialism. Universal healthcare as proposed by Obama will be horrible (see the UK and Canada), and a blatant redistribution of money with taxes is certainly showing a dangerous trend to follow that we do not need to see.




I am a proponent of either a flat tax or a federal sales tax. NO one should have to pay more because they make more. That is basically telling them that they must use more government services because they make more, when the reality is those people who do not pay income tax or pay little, use the most government services.

I am a firearm owner, and proud supporter of the second amendment. I am awaiting a new assualt weapons ban that will be even more restrictive than Clintons if Obama gets elected.

Why the hell should you tax people who have less money? Thats taking from the poor and giving to the rich... which seems to me to be... well, pure evil. My parents have a low income but the work their asses off, and in most cases far harder than anyone making over 250K. I sure as hell would prefer to see those that have money get taxed rather than just squeezing more money out of those who work hard and still have a low income.

But I must be crazy for thinking that someone who has more money than 90% of the rest of the world should pay higher taxes... :roll:

BTW, richer people pay more taxes in Canada? why? they don't need all that money to survive. There are a minority of rich people in the States and a vast majority of people having more and more difficulties to stay in the middle class. Helping the middle class is helping your so called American Dream. The American Dream was all about being raised in a poor family, getting a job in a shop (or something like that), buy a bungalow in a suburb, having a family, etc... THAT IS THE AMERICAN DREAM. Also, Canadian healthcare is great, whatever people like to say. My father needs a complete knee reconstruction and you know how much it is gonna cost? 0$

Maybe you don't see the point in Universal healthcare because you're young and in shape, but let me tell you that: when you'll get old and will be retired and short on money, well you'd be frigging happy to get a free knee reconstruction when you need one.

1. The problem with socialized healthcare is how much it will cost to implement. This country already pays to a huge, overinflated government budget, so asking them to pay more is a tough thing to do with a straight face, especially when the government feels that increasing the budget automatically makes failing programs better and that any reduction in taxes anywhere is immediately the end of the world. The truth is, the trends in this country at a local and federal level have shown that simply increasing funding to failing programs does not work. So until tihs government realizes that and starts to trim some fat from the budget, I will excercise my right to tell everyone that socialized healthcare is bad idea for tihs country.

1a. My parents were both born and bourhgt up in the UK and I have many family members there. They dso not wish socialized healthcare on anyone. So, even if people say that I have no perspective of it all , they sure do. My uncle had to wait two months to get a simple test to see if he had a very malicious cancer. He lives in Northern Ireland. TWO MONTHS. In the US, that would have been done THE SAME DAY. When facing a cancer as malicious and fast spreading as his, two weeks makes a difference.


2. Our government is a government full of liars, youve got that right and McCain is no exception. McCain is more apt to uphold our rights than Obama. Obama has been called out on changing his stance on certain issues (unions, firearms ownership) depending on the audience he is talking to! TO me, that does not instill a warm feeling that he will stick to his word, because really, do we know what his word really is!? Nope, we do not.

As far as the stupid comments about Palin, guess what. She isnt running for president. President and vice President are not the same thing. On the Democratic side, we have a junior senator with questionable track record running for PRESIDENT versus a Republican man who has a lengthy and extensive track record in politics. So comparing Presidential nominees, I will go with McCain. Oh, I also love how people are becoming petty enough to say that McCain is too old to be president. That is just downright laughable.

On the VP side, we have Joe Biden, a Democrat. Joe Biden is the exact type of politician that Obama constantly speaks out against! How strange is that! On the Republican side, we have a governor from Alaska with little experience.

So, if Palin really cant do these things that you proclaim, then i will say that I am not worried about it in the last as Obama is on a similar level and he is an actual PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.


SO yes, I have thought long and hard about this election and have done my research into what they really stand for, and while Im not 100% impressed with either one, McCain wins my support.

Personally I do not want to share my political beliefs. But I always respect others.

It's not necessarily that I have less of an opinion of poeple on here now that I know this side of them, as much as I don't want a heated debate with flaming.

Where I come from, we have a forum in the same setting as this:

EXACT same layout just different colors. Anyway, back to my point. Everyone hates everyone on there despite being from the same small town where we know each other by first name. If I say "hey guys, I like the band Incubus", everyone flames you for having an opinion. Also, the mod's want to be PC and pretend to let all posters have their freedom of speech until you say something THEY (moderators) disagree with and then all of a sudden they are like Hitler.

Anyway, point is, this is the only message board I have been on without any hatred. I know we seem to be debating peacefully, but it's still something I feel we shouldn't be discussing. I know thats wrong, we should be able to discuss whatever we want, but it's not too late to get out of control.

I just felt religion and politics should be kept to yourself for one reason:

Those who read some one else's opinion may get angry or feel threatened by someone else's opinion MAYBE being right, or them making an extremely good point that they have to start with their shit.

How many religion threads have I been part of that got out of hand? People can't handle their belief's being threatened so when they read someone who makes a better point, they get all defensive. Politics are no better. In fact, they are like a religion to some people.

But I mean so far everyone is being pretty respectable. So I suppose there is no reason for concern.
