I guess when I was saying when I said that I wanted to see the first black pres. go into office was that I feel that it doesn't matter who goes in cuz certain things are going to happen weather there is a monkeyor a carrot as our president. I do like Obama and his thinking more than McCain but how much of those great ideas are going to come true when he gets in office. I guess I just don't have much faith in our presidents so I would like to see something different happen this time instead of the same old crap. I also think that there would be a lot of people who would expect McCain to just continue you the mess that Bush has created and that people would expect Obama to make a big change in whats going on. Thats why I like Obama. I think this would put more pressure on Obama and anyone who is "on his side" that is working of the government to make changes. I don't think there would be as much pressure for McCain to do the same.

I feel sorry for Obama if he wins- I feel like he's one of the few genuine figures in U.S politics- and the real truth is that the president or the congress or the senate or the people don't run my country. In that respect I hope I am wrong too if he gets elected. My other concern is that if he wins he will just get blamed for everything Bush and ourselves have done to this country. I feel like it will just be the administration and of course the voters lighting a fire, and than walking away after passing the matches to whoever gets in and when the cops show up going "Should've voted for the other guy!"

But again... I hope I am wrong. And for sure- whoever gets in has a one of the hardest jobs in history, because we as a world and in particular a country (the United States) are in a really, really, really deep hole.

There's a mistake here, Florin and Trujo should have been on the same ticket. 8)

he IS my vice president. I do not know who he has for vice president. Thanks for your support.

We have elections in Romania too. Not that interesting as in US, still, I have a lot of gigs because of that :-)
Do bands support the campaign in the US? How they do it? We are playing for all of them really, it doesn't matter who they are, they call us, they pay us (double), we play for them and we wish them luck. I don't know about US elections, and frankly I don't care, but here is a masquerade... I hate politics!

Nice duds Flo. :P
Looks like it was friggin cold there.
When i played gigs,it was always my fantasy to play in a giant fridge, instead of the usual smokey sauna conditions.

LOL good stuff LOL

I voted J.F.K. too.

I am voting for McCain/Palin. Why?

Easy. I am getting sick and tired of the "do nothing for yourself, someone will give you what you need" attitude of this country. I live in MA, one of the most democratic states in the country. All this state seems to want to do is take the money of one person, and redistribute it to someone else who "allegedly" needs it. This used to be localized to a few states but it has no spread far and wide. Nothing is earned in this country. The trend is to give people what they need, not have them earn it. THAT to me is not an American ideal. "We can be anything that we want to be" is true, so long as people work for it. Now, that drive has been lost. Everyone wants their cake and eat it too and that sentiment will do nothing but allow this country to implode on itself.

I really am sick of the handouts government gives and how they dictate what we can do. Government was not formed t provide us with freedom, but to protect the freedom we have as human beings. And in this country, the government, local or federal, is no longer doing that. They are taking control of daily lives, and it needs to end.

Its fvcking sickening just how many people think that people should just be given everything. Where does that "everything" come from? From those who earned it in the first place.

This country needs a swift kick in the ass, and I hope on November 4th, the country gets it as McCain/Palin take the election.

I think that I would vote for Bill Clinton but thats not on the option list

lol, sorry, but the way you say it, it almost sounds like you think Democrats are Communists that simply want to take your money and give it to the poors. Man, they don't want to do that to an extent you're thinking. It's a very very small portion they want to redistribute. You know, if you grew up in Harlem with an alcoholic father and your mom is a nurse doing whatever she can to help his kids having some food. Well, if you grew up in situations like this, wouldn't you want that your mom had some money sent by the government to bring you to the hospital because you have some real bad fever. I mean, you eventually didn't grow up in a very poor household because of what you say but if you did, will your vision be the same? You never lacked any money and always could use everything you had to do whatever you wanted to without having too much financial problems. For some peeps, not dying of starvation is an everyday fight. Think about them and tell me they don't need it. Tell me that they should go to college and earn their money, the can't go to college, too poor to have a little credit to pay for school (and that seems even worst these days).

Some people need help, some other abuse, but for the ones who really need help, I'm proud to be a Canadian and to pay 40% in taxes every year to help some people around who really needs some of the money I don't really need. I think it's time for the USA to change to a less egocentric and individualist nation to a more collectivist one. Also, think about that: If poor people can access to credit because of some sort of redistribution of the money, maybe they could afford to go to college or other type of educational institution. That way, they could get jobs. More jobs = more taxes for the government = more economical stability = better overall economy = easier credit for everyone. That way, helping the poor can eventually pay back in the future.

I have to say I agree with much of what you have said. Our current welfare system as we know it today really started with very good intentions at a time it was extremely needed and was only intended to be a temporary program to help people in need during and immediately following the great depression. Now some 70 years later it has become so twisted and abused that people have come to believe it is some kind of right they have. The right to sit on their butts, do nothing constructive with their lives or even to take care of themselves except to hold their hands out and expect the government to provide their living for them. Some years ago, I believe it was Reagan that was trying to initiate a program where all welfare recieptiants that were capable should have to work for their welfare checks. Doing simple work and only a minimal amount of hours. But the democrats and those on welfare threw a fit. It was demeaning to ask these people to work for their handouts.

I find it funny, but sad that poll after poll shows that Americans believe that the government has gotten too big and too intrusive in our lives, but many of them continue to vote for the party that has a government solution for everything and continue to vote for laws that take away our rights at an alarming rate.

And while I totally agree that this country needs a good hard swift kick in butt, I have to say I don't see McCain as the man to do that. I did vote for McCain (in the county I live we vote by mail, no actual voting booths) but still don't believe he'll turn around the country. I see more of the same.

What this country really needs is true leaders. We need to get away from politicians and find some real leaders to follow. Politicians only worry about what is good for them, their party, and the special interest groups that help them to get elected and stay in power. A true leader however is someone that believes in and loves this country so much they put the needs of the American people first and foremost in their plans and decisions. We need proactive leaders with far reaching visions for this country and the world we live in.

But more than anything, what this country really needs is for the American people themselves to wake up and really see what's going on. It's time they quit behaving like sheep and start acting like the free men and women we are suppossed to be. It's time we standup to our government and tell them once and for all to stop playing their games and start doing what is right for the American people and for this world which we live in.

I have tons more I could rant on about but I will spare you all and take my soapbox (as Florin so eliquently put it) and trapse off.

Peace

I think this is going a bit general. The poing of redistributing money, it is called "tax" btw, is to make people, foremost children, who are born into a poor standard of living, a better chance of growing up with enough food, a place to live, education and safe housing. What they do when they turn 18, is up to them. And free/cheap health care. What your government calls "socialized medicine", which works really well in Europe, but seem to make the capitalists shiver in the US. You might enlighten me, as I don`t know too much about how your government really does it.

"Protecting freedom" is such a subjective thing, but to me it seems it`s mostly about keeping the citizens at the edge of their seats, while maintaining "american interests" in order to make corporate profit.

That you seriously want a government with McCain/Palin in it, is way past my comprenhension. He has proven to be a liar, and should`ve gone down with one of the many planes he crashed. Palin doesn`t seem to know how to count to ten without removing her socks.

But the positive thing is, your Alaska-Russia-relationship will get much better.

Obama wants to give tax rebates to people who do not even pay federal income tax. how does he plan to do that? Tax people who make over 250k a year MORE to do so. He also wants to put more tax burden on those 250k+ winners and allow the middle class to pay less. Im sorry, but I do not see why someone should have to pay more tax just because they make more money. That is penalizing them for their success and that is not what the government should be doing.

AS for another poster's communism comment, youre right, it wont go as far as communism, but it certainl reeks ofsocialism. Universal healthcare as proposed by Obama will be horrible (see the UK and Canada), and a blatant redistribution of money with taxes is certainly showing a dangerous trend to follow that we do not need to see.

I am a proponent of either a flat tax or a federal sales tax. NO one should have to pay more because they make more. That is basically telling them that they must use more government services because they make more, when the reality is those people who do not pay income tax or pay little, use the most government services.

It really is frightening that people can get behind Obama and think that just destroying rights left and right is the right thing to do.

I am a firearm owner, and proud supporter of the second amendment. I am awaiting a new assualt weapons ban that will be even more restrictive than Clintons if Obama gets elected.

Hmmm seems like you have a pretty good sense of how our government does it.

That leads us to the main problem with our government. Their all liars; its just a matter if they been caught in their lies or not. The Clintons were caught in so many lies it's crazy to think that Hilliary almost became the democratic candidate. Good thing she got caught in so many lies during the primaries or she well could be the democratic candidate. Because you see, the real problem with the American public (in general) is short attention span and we tend to forget things unless the media keeps reminding us. So what I'm saying is... They keep getting away with all their lying, because frankly, we forget about all their lies.

1. The problem with socialized healthcare is how much it will cost to implement. This country already pays to a huge, overinflated government budget, so asking them to pay more is a tough thing to do with a straight face, especially when the government feels that increasing the budget automatically makes failing programs better and that any reduction in taxes anywhere is immediately the end of the world. The truth is, the trends in this country at a local and federal level have shown that simply increasing funding to failing programs does not work. So until tihs government realizes that and starts to trim some fat from the budget, I will excercise my right to tell everyone that socialized healthcare is bad idea for tihs country.

1a. My parents were both born and bourhgt up in the UK and I have many family members there. They dso not wish socialized healthcare on anyone. So, even if people say that I have no perspective of it all , they sure do. My uncle had to wait two months to get a simple test to see if he had a very malicious cancer. He lives in Northern Ireland. TWO MONTHS. In the US, that would have been done THE SAME DAY. When facing a cancer as malicious and fast spreading as his, two weeks makes a difference.

2. Our government is a government full of liars, youve got that right and McCain is no exception. McCain is more apt to uphold our rights than Obama. Obama has been called out on changing his stance on certain issues (unions, firearms ownership) depending on the audience he is talking to! TO me, that does not instill a warm feeling that he will stick to his word, because really, do we know what his word really is!? Nope, we do not.

As far as the stupid comments about Palin, guess what. She isnt running for president. President and vice President are not the same thing. On the Democratic side, we have a junior senator with questionable track record running for PRESIDENT versus a Republican man who has a lengthy and extensive track record in politics. So comparing Presidential nominees, I will go with McCain. Oh, I also love how people are becoming petty enough to say that McCain is too old to be president. That is just downright laughable.

On the VP side, we have Joe Biden, a Democrat. Joe Biden is the exact type of politician that Obama constantly speaks out against! How strange is that! On the Republican side, we have a governor from Alaska with little experience.

So, if Palin really cant do these things that you proclaim, then i will say that I am not worried about it in the last as Obama is on a similar level and he is an actual PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

SO yes, I have thought long and hard about this election and have done my research into what they really stand for, and while Im not 100% impressed with either one, McCain wins my support.

No she isn't running for president, but given McCain's age and health, she could well be appointed. And I wouldn't say the VP has no influence, especially regarding the current administration (although she is no Dick Cheney).

McCain is an a-hole, Pailin is goose-stepping twit.

Obama is cardboard politician, Bidan is a stogy old capital hill goat.

Those that make the most money in this country SHOULD be taxed more because they benefit more from this country than those that make less. Why should a poor person pay the same in taxes as a rich person when they haven't benefited as much from the system that the taxes pay for? A system created by the rich and that helped the rich get rich by keeping poor people slaving away in their factories, office buildings and war zones?

I agree we shouldn't give handouts to everyone. But we should make the rich pay for the country they rape day after day after day. Even a lowly whore gets $10 bucks for a suck off, why not the US? Why should the rich, those that f*ck up this country more than anyone and use our military and government for their own selfish agendas, get a free ride? F*ck em, and make em pay! I say... Its the least they could do.

By the way...Obama will be the next president, and it won't be that bad, in fact, not much will change at all. So stop your whining and get back to work like a good capitalist slave so that the rich white guy you work for can buy a new pony for his spoiled little brat! And have fun making rent this month while your rich hero laughs at you all the way the bank

I think Boston asphalt may have Helsinki syndrome or something....so long being told that the chains of ignorance and misinformation he wears are golden bracelets of 'freedom' he will fight to the death to defend em....and he isn't the only one in this country...Like was stated before, the people in this country need to wake the f*ck up and start acting like true citizens, not goosestepping sheep believing whatever that man in the $5000 suit is telling em.

Ok...I'm done...And by the way...Florin has more votes here than McCain so....

FLORIN '08!!!

Really? how? A person on welfare benefits more from the current system than some "evil rich white guy" as you put it. Why? because that welfare case does not have to work for his money. The other guy not only works for his money, but he then hads to give some of it to some guy who will not work. Yeah, that is fair.

You provide no examples, no support to your argument, you really are a Democrat. You must also either be a minority, or osmeone who doesnt want to work for a living, too.

Good luck with that
