Interseting corvette on Ebay... Legit?

I'd say the body is not legit

doesn't mean it's a bad bass...
 
It's definitely not a CS. It's also not a completely original Warwick. It was either originally an ash-bodied Corvette or was completely handmade to be like a Corvette. The CS won't do the forearm cut like that and you also cannot get a laminate down the middle like that. I bet you a dollar it's made as well as a Warwick though. I'd easily pay more than an ash-bodied Corvette for that baby. Buy it!
 
Personally I like what that wenge layer is doing at the forearm cut.... The strip down the body, not so much...

Whomever did that certainly is a skilled woodworker!

And Mangas, wether it's legit or not, I'm with the others in saying that it's a beatiful bass and that you'll het your money's worth...
 
In Warwick Custom Shop, if you want a laminated body you lose the forearm cut!
Definetly not made by us... Ok, maybe an old CS, but the tailpiece height is weird too.
 
I'm waiting for more info from the seller. Will let you guys know what he says. Looking at the pictures from the backside it looks too good not to be original. I'm wondering if someone ordered a bass with those laminations and then took it to a Luthier to do the forearm cut and add the center stripe?

Mmm... I doubt it, I would say they body's been made from scratch.

+1. I don't think this is an "old Ash body" or a
CS. I think a very skilled craftsmen made a very
keen likeness of the Corvette body.

Regardless, gorgeous, and that Wenge is KILLER! :D
 
i think, it would be more interesting to know, if the neck pocket makes a tight fit with the neck !
because, if this is made good, then it can't be a bad bass. it has the body woods of an FNA, but with a thick venge vaneer in it, so i think the tone can't be bad at all !

but like i said: it must be quality built, and the worst part would be, if the neck sits loose on the body.
or if the bridge is not placed correctly (maybe not centered), but this can be judged by looking at how the strings sit on the neck: if they are centered on the neck, it is good.

so, if you are looking for a CS bass, then don't buy it.
but if you are looking for a good sounding corvette, this might be the one for you.

what do the others here think ?

The neck pocket on my Fortress 1 aint too impressive. I need to tighten the screws a coupla times a year, and can tell easily when I can feel a slight side to side movement. You can also hear the neck move in the pocket. Interestingly none of the Streamer STD and neither of the RB's have this problem. I can't see ANY evidence of damage or alteration to the pocket.

Sounds like you sir, need to shim your neck pocket. ;)
 
Looks like I got it. Hopefully wont take too long to get here. Couldnt get much out of the seller. He claims to be the original owner. It was sold thru Diplomate Music in Montreal. Anyone know who I can contact at Warwick to try and get some info on this?

Congrats! I think the first thing I would do would
to be take the bridge off, and see if this body is
indeed stamped.

Why not try contacting the music shop? I'm sure
a quick Google search would turn up something...

I had the same thought to remove the bridge. Being an 04 model I doubt that the shop would remember anything. Thats why I thought I would try Warwick first. Their contact form on the website isnt working so I was hoping someone might have a direct email for someone in the Custon Shop

Hey man. This bass was sold in Canada, it was at that time a basic corvette std ash ;-)
So this is not a Warwick CUstom SHop
