Getting a Streamer $$ with the Corvette $$ NT specs ?

Hello Warwick Community, I'm new here.

I'm a fan of Warwick basses, and I'm interested in getting a new 4 string bass. I've played the Corvette $$ NT (Bubinga + Maple) and I loved it. BUT, I don't like the Corvette shape AT ALL :x . I'm a big fan of the Streamer shape though.

So I was thinking of getting a Streamer $$ with these specs:

-Streamer $$.
-Bubinga body
-Flamed Maple neck.
-Tigerstripe Ebony Fretboard.
-All the rest being standard.


How do you reckon it would sound ? Sounds like a good combination to me...

Well if you want to go all the way, you could get a Streamer Stage I with the $$ pickup/electronics and a bubigna body...

That would be an awesome bass...
 
Hey Heikki,

you played a Corvette NT right ?? The Streamer $$ is a bolt on bass. Even if you choose the same woods as the Corvette NT, it will sound very different (although there will be a lot of similarities as well). As Jan wrote, you should be getting a Streamer Stage I, then use the specs of the Corvette NT to get a very similar sound. The Ebony board will give you more brightness, and slightly less (woody) growl compared to a Wenge board in my opinion...........

Thanks for the tips. The thing is that I'm an almost poor student and I can barely afford this $$, so getting a Stage 1 would be suicide... :lol:


So, even if the results would be slightly different, the "spirit" of the sound I loved would be there, no ???
 
Unfortunately, the NT vs BO difference will change a lot in the sound...
 
the NT will give you a more defined and "civilized" sound, the BO is rounder...

The Thumb BO and NT for instance, although they have similar woods (bubigna and ovangkol have very similar sound properties...), sound pretty different...
 
although, a streamer $$ with a bubigna body should be pretty awesome by itself...

I agree.

In my opinion, it's not because of how the neck is joined to the body, but it's because of the woods. With a NT bass, you have Maple running all the way from headstock to bridge, whereas with a BO bass, the Maple ends at the body.
I think it would be tricky to get a Streamer $$ with the Corvette NT specs, hoping it to sound similarly............. :roll:
 
NT vs. BO. You can't decide what's better for one person. A lot of people will preffer the NT but I'm sure many would have the BO before the NT. It's a matter of liking. I think you should pick up NT and BO basses at your closest guitar shop and try them, find out wether you are a NT or BO guy. I'd hate to see your CS bass being sold because the neck type wasn't right for you.
 
I suppose that would have to be a streamer stage 1 custom with bubinga wings and $$ pickups. They would look quite cool, maybe a bit heavy.
 
Guys, Heikki said he cannot afford a Stage 1 ! I reckon that the price difference between his idea of a $$ and a Stage 1 would be at least 1300 euros, which is huge.
 
the reason it's so much more because of the concaved body. i would get the streamer $$...personally.

+1, a streamer $$ with Bubinga body and ebony fretboard, sounds like an awesome bass to me, i love all bass'es with Bubinga body's such a unique and stable tone. go for it.

Hey StuZ, ironically I have the exact opposite opinion about the Corvette/Streamer shapes. But I would make one suggestion - make sure you really think it over. You'd be spending more money for the Custom Shop bass and it COULD end up sounding completely different than the $$ NT that you loved (the sound of). BO instead of NT, all bubinga body instead of bubinga wings, ebony fretboard instead of wenge. Who knows, maybe you'd like it even more - but that's an expensive risk. My two cents anyway.

the "iternet import wife" dilemma: you just don't know what you're getting.......... :lol:

Still with a Streamer $$ basis.

Would it be way too bright, or the ash body would compensate for that ? I don't want the sound to be "boomy" and undefined either, since it's typical from Ash...
 
you go tme wanting one now. bubinga body, maple neck, wenge board=GAS

Hmm... other than the ebony board, it's a production Streamer $$. I'd stick with the bubinga body, but that's me. I'm sure you'll figure out what's best for you...
 
ACtually this combination is very nice for a slap machine :-)
