Cheap reproductions

A few months ago the U.S. publication Bass Player Magazine had a review on the Wishbass, and came away saying something to the effect that it was more of a crude novelty item than a serious working stage axe.

I guess that it might fill some type of weird niche for a hand-built oddity (in somebody's eyes anyway). But for serious gigging on a regular basis we know that there's much better weapons out there. I would not be suprised that for another $100.00 - $150.00 over the price of a Wishbass, a person could own a Rockbass, and be much better served.

As for Wishbass, I can't see a single redeeming 'quality'.

ugly design, poor construction... Maybe they sound like heaven but I'll never know because I won't be seen dead playing one...
 
If I ever get a hold of a Wishbass, I will string it with a 175 low F# string. At least I will have some fun with it.......... :shock:

There is one upside....according to Bass PLayer mag's review on one a few months back, Wishnevsky will build you ANY design your send him.

It is kinda of a Ric/Fortress combo. The body is definitely the Fortress though...
 
i had the chance to play a MB Wal replica and it sounded really good, those basses are well built too, they just lack imagination ;)
 
I'm not much of a fan of the flashback... It's kinda of... Too... Flashy for me :P
 
i bet it sounds the same as a real ritter... those basses are too gorgeous to sound good :D

The sad thing is is that its probably true.
 
I think Warwick should get paid for all of these crappy knockoffs, don't you think, just for stealing the basic design
