I think they have been released - a number of stores here list them on eBay Australia.



I've never seen one in person, but I think they're available.

Uh, don't hold your breathe on the wenge (I know I prefer it too). The RB Aliens are out there. Like Luke said I see them on ebay...they aren't cheap though. And as far as dealing with GC on anything... forget it!
 
Oh god, it's all true... I've just bought a Thumb and they change the body wood to bubinga! Darn :lol:
 
not cheap as in 5-700? as long as there not an arm and a leg id like to get one. i love my acoustic basses.

Sam, excuse me but a good review for the Pro Corvette does not mean it is the same bass as the German ones. I am not saying it is worse, for all I know it might be even better, but it should be different, even slightly. It's impossible to produce the same bass out of two different factories with different technicians. And about Ed's experience with Warwicks, I 'd say it's pretty limited. (He's on the other side of the pond anyway ;) ) So he definitely does not have the point of reference to judge a W bass' quality, no matter how good he is at playing and reviewing basses. IIRC he recently reviewed a Streamer for the first time and made some comments about its ergonomics, it seemed like that bass was totally new to him. Just my 2c.

PS. I love and trust Ed's reviews. :d
 
As far as Warwick's decision to move things to Korea, have some new RockBass models, Artist series etc etc, I think we all need a calm and accepting attitude. There's lots of changes, some of them you will like, some you will not. There's not a whole lot we can do about Warwick's strategy, they know best what's good for them (that means how to have more happy customers, that's us) so we might as well sit back, witness and enjoy the changes. The good thing is that there are more *options* available and that can't be a bad thing. Warwick is still evolving as a company, it does not sit on its laurels and remain stale.

But do none of the pro series basses feature a mid control? That seems like a bummer to me...
 
I have one question, are the neck profiles the same between Warwick, Pro Series and RockBass models?
 
As in $1200-$2000 here in U.S. Which I say is pricey considering 99% of bassist will spend very little time with it. Or at least that is my experience. I have had acoustics before and they collect dust. Initially they are cool but lose in the end to electric. Not that the Alien isn't quality. Lord knows you can spend way more for an acoustic look at this one

C´mon , Samuel, don´t be so picky, we aren´t sending anybody (or any bass) to the gallows tree, we are just expressing our thoughts about the new basses, and the new direction of Warwick´s business, based on our experience with the german-made Warwicks and the asian models we know and tried so far.

On the other hand, I know somebody has to be the devil´s advocate...

Cool! A lot of new exciting stuff!! Personal favourites: the Pro Series Star Bass and the Artist Series Adam Clayton. Sure would like to try those and see how they feel.

On the other hand, your forum friend - Flo had them in his shop. 4,5 strings, bubinga and ash. He can tell you that they are almost 100% like the GErman ones.

In the meantime we are offering MORE not LESS German made basses, and MORE other versions to chose from.

Artist series are Korean, so with very good quality. Also the new Rockbasses are excellent.

Always the changes are making people confused, but the changes are 100% positive for everybody. Have you seen the LTD BTW?

I too think the Pro series Star Bass looks very Exciting! I think I'll check that out closer when they're available!

There don't seem to be any X-Treme or Tubepath heads in the 2011 catalog, although they are mentioned on the front page of the amplification section. I wonder if they will remain in the line up?

... I did note, some will be happy there's no more Comic Sans font on the amplification range! :lol:

I'm glad not everyone is begining to sound like a teenybopper talking about the new Avon range.
It's really bloody simple. If ya dont like a Pro series Thumb, dont friggin buy it. I dont understand why people are gettin upset over it? Is it coz they think they're German built Thumb is gonna lose some of it's prestige? Hell yes. It's all about the cool factor. Look at me, I have an expensive German built bass.It must make everyone think I'm a virtuoso. Some folks are too concerened with what others are gonna think of them & their legendary German built bass if there's a cheaper Korean model that looks similar. I bet pounds to peanuts 99% of the haters havent even picked one up & actually played it. Too busy at the salon getting their hair & nails done to strap on & play.Youtube has lots of vids of kids on RB's & the like, outplaying most dudes on their high end prides & joy.I swear there's more people that pay alot more attention to what bass they own, than to the standard of music which they actually play with it.
I'm beyond giving a ♣♣♣♣ who takes exception to what I'm saying. I might be a mod, but I also have an opinion. & my opinion is that alot of the ♣♣♣♣ I'm reading in threads like this are making me question why I even bother to read them. There's robust discussion, then there's just plain out talking complete ♣♣♣♣. & the ♣♣♣♣'s knee deep in parts.
This is all imho. Make of it what you will, but I certainly wont be losing sleep over any of it.

Nicely said Greg. I've seen some monster kids sounding great on Youtube with Rockbasses :d The new range looks pretty damn exciting - I'd be proud to own a Pro series Star bass.

Mate, it's more bass than most could handle.
Now some smart arses are gonna say, "why do you own a stage 2"? Why dont you buy a Rockbass, or Pro series?
Well, the answer to that is that I can bloody well afford a stage 2. In fact, I could afford several, & then some. It's much more bass than I deserve, but stiff ♣♣♣♣. Would it bother me if a Pro or RB stage 2 were to be produced? no way. In fact, I'd welcome it coz it would give others that arent as financially fortunate as me the opportunity to own an amazing bass. Would it be any less of a bass? History has proven that incorrect. If it carries the big W, it's gonna be a great playing bass.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm due for my 12.30 with Cesarre, my pedicurist, then it's off to the clinic for my poodle's weekly high colonic & polites class .(air kisses) Taaaa!:)
