2011 product catalog!

So do you guys only judge a bass on where it is made without even having played/felt/heard it?

No. I guess it's a comfort thing. I know thumbs where always made in germany. I don't deal with change very well:lol:

I'd guess those new "artist series" are made in China, like the Rockbass line.

I don´t think anyone is bashing at anything here, just expressing our thoughts about the new products. Au contraire, I wish I could try all those new models and compare ´em to their German-made brothers and sistas.
 
If Warwick is going to keep going down this path, I think they should bring all the Bolt-Ons (minus custom shop stuff) down to the Pro Series and leave the neck-through basses to be German made. It almost seems as if that is what is happening now anyways. I haven't had a chance to try a Pro-series instrument out yet but I do love my Rockbass. It's not an exotic wood German made instrument but it is a damn fine instrument. In my personal opinion I believe the signature stuff should remain German made. I mean, they are supposed to be custom made for the artist to their specs. A cheaper model with cheaper woods isn't exactly the same thing. Don't get me wrong though, if the NZ distributor ever gets any of these things in I WILL give them a nice play and see what they are like. I'm sure they are going to be fine instruments all the same.

As for pricing of the German made instruments and the US market. It has been a LONG time since I've looked at US pricing (moved away from US 11 years ago) but I would imagine Warwick is actually on the lower end of the pricing scale for their basses. If you want some sticker shock, price up a Fodera like you want it and see what it runs you. Heck, pick one of their normal line of instruments and see what it runs you. Warwick on the other hand, if you're out gigging (which I'm not) regularly is priced within the realm of definite possibility. When I do start gigging again (whenever that may happen) I will start looking at getting either a Thumb (wanted one since I saw Jack Bruce on the cover of Bass Player magazine I don't know how many years ago) or a CS Fortress (first Fortress I played I fell in love with but couldn't afford it in 95) fretless 5. Haven't decided yet. :)

Anyways, I think that's enough non-coherent ranting from me. I've still got some promised clips from this RB Fortress to put up sometime today. :)
 
I'm not bashing the asain made rockbass and corvettes....
I've played both and they are great basses for price.
I'm talking about models like the Pro series Thumb,Streamer LX and this artist series... all of which IMO are good moves for money making BAD moves for Warwick enthusiast
 
well they will never compare to the real german made warwicks. i mean look at the p-nut model. the rockbass one is a bolt on neck and doesnt have the nice woods or awesome pickups. but it still looks like a awesome bass. and thats what we need. we need a awesome streamer we can afford. i still need to inspect more but ill be very happy if its a streamer that doesnt look like a log. the streamer rockbasses now are a joke.they are blocky and have very lil curves. and i love the p-nut pickup config. so even tho they will never compare im all for sig rockbasses. cause atleast for now thats prob the only way we'll get a decent warwick we can afford. just IMO.

On the other hand: The Pro-Series stuff is quite good, really. Sadly, as I looked up some models last week, the Pro-Series Corvettes are not cheaper than the old german ones were. If that's the case with the new thumb, too, it will never be an option for me.

Hey what we need now are Pro Series and RockBass endorsers. No, seriously. That would help move these things. I know Fender does it with the Squire line.
 
I'm stunned!

There seem to be some amazing changes to the amplification line, as well as the addition of a Streamer LX and Thumb BO in the Pro series!

I think it's great that they have introduced a Thumb and a Streamer to the excellent Pro Series - it gives people an opportunity to play wonderful basses at an excellent price point with amazing quality.

I do hope that those models are also continued to be offered from Germany as well for those of us who love the German Warwicks and are prepared to pay the price for the ultimate instrument.

I say everyone wins!

Only 2 cabs? (115 and 410) Man, where are the 2x10, or the 411 (4x10 with a tweeter)...
 
The 410 there replaces the 411 Pro (it has a tweeter).

I'm sad that the 211 Pro seems to have disappeared. Warwick's best cab in my opinion. I'm glad I have two of them!

They are, look at pages 36 and 38. And, btw, now german Thumb BO will have bubinga bodies, acording to the catalog.
 
did they ever release those rockbass alien acoustics? i never found them online and i asked the guy at guitar center and they said they didnt know anything about them. i eventually gave up. but would like to get one.
