Stripped the wood! Need repair advice before show in 2 days!

Hey everyone, I installed new pickups about a month ago. When setting the heights, I stripped one of the screws and had to pull it out with pliers. The pickups brought their own set of screws, so I figured I'd try them out. I put them in, but they seemed a little too tight for the brass...

Burn or knot in the wood?

Hi guys, Had a go at the apparent 'burn' on my SS1 last night with some steel wool and it's not coming off at all. A friend of mine suggested it might be a knot in the wood. What do you guys think? Cheers, P

Wood identification on my recently stripped '87 Streamer

Hi guys and gals. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me identify the wood that has been used on my Streamer. From past experience I am aware that Streamers from that period would have been either Cherry or Maple, however this doesn't look like either of those (I've owned both...

    Any wood workers here?

Wondering if anyone does wood working as a hobby or profession? I have in the past heavily modified basses by carving the bodys... And if you recall reshaping the neck a bit on my Warwick. I just ordered 6 peices of 15/16" diameter turning blocks and 3 sheets of 1/4" thick ovangkol.. I'm...

    Good wood mix?

I know there are plenty of other of these threads...but I just wanted some expert opinions. I went to Bass Cellar on Denmark St (London) yesterday, played a Streamer $$ (which I am considering for my next bass). At first I thought it was a bit clunky but after a bit more playing and getting...

    Dense wood mix choices?

Wondering if any of these would be possible to do... A wenge body? Bubinga, Ovangkol, or Wenge body with an Ebony top? Just wondering... I really like a very hifi sounding bass with ALOT of mids and pop to it... And not much a fan of the lighter woods like maple, alder, or ash.
