Just out of curiousity...are there any customers who have or is it possible to send in your own woods to have a bass made to Warwick specs?
Just curious as I work for a large Office Furniture company and I occasionally come across very nice unusual cuts of wood.
Is this possible ? Would warwick consider doing a custom bass from wood sent in?

I think that it was mentioned some time ago that this unfortunately isn't possible... But wait for one of the moderators to reply

No mate, this isn't possible, because our wood is specially prepared by us, before making an instrument. We cannot make a bass using a wood we don't trust. Our instruments have to be good sounding instruments in the first place, and stable too.

I see your point Florin, however we here also use the best, top quality lumber...especially for custom mock-ups or orders.
LOL I would not waste my time sending in something that would definitely not be "special" or Grade A quality.
Like I said I do see some great pieces of quality lumber pass through here, not to mention the veneers that fly through.
I have seen some of the most beautiful birds-eye maples, makore ect while being employed here.
Thanks though for the answers, perhaps one day I could get one of the CNC dudes here to help me out and then hand-sand it to perfection.
We also have a very high quality finishing dept. lacquers. stains...I may just have to make use of these fringe benefits :P
Cheers, thanks guys and have a great a weekend !

The thing with Warwicks tone woods is that they dry the wood to a certain moisture level to be stable in an instrument. Also the cut is critical.Basically they wont use "outside woods" coz it's probably already been cut, they dont know where it came from(renewable or old growth sources)which raises legal questions & like Florin said,it has to sound good. The maple on your Warwick bass is a far cry from the maple at the local hardware shop for example.

Not possible at the time, sorry. We can offer though, that you come in to Germany and choose your own wood from our huge selection.

I was always dubious re: them allowing this, but does it extend to all apsects of the bass?

For instance, if I wanted electronics by Nordstrand or Aguilar, or someone else not offered by the CS, would they accept a 'post-in' package of electronics to be installed on the bass? This just somehow seems more reasonable, as it by-passes the quality issue.
