pickups

ive seen a couple of people ordering custom thumb NT 4 basses with the NT 5 pickup position. will this make the 4 sound exactly like the 5 except with out a lower string?

The pickups on Jazzman and $$ models are passive, right? Yet, they have an equalization control that is active. Tell me, do these basses require batteries at all?

hi. who can explain this: the streamer stage I has active pickups but it has the mec electronics with active/passive-switch. how is this possible, since active pickups can't be played in passive mode ?!

Dumb question time. Are the MEC J pickups used in Corvette Stds the same size for both 4 and 5 string basses? Someone may have some J's and preamp from a 4string for sale, which i'd like to put into my 5er.....same same?? or different? Cheers brethren, Jono

I am wondering, who makes pickups in the same dimensions as the ones in my FNA Jazzman 5 string? I'm not too fond of the pickups or preamp, and am considering a swap.
