New Pick-ups for Rockbass

I'm thinking of changing the pickups in my passive Rockbass Streamer - they're lacking in power. I'm looking at this as a bit of fun with a soldering iron (?)

Any suggestions - thought about EMG soapbars, Seymour Duncan, even Status pickups. Will consider changing the pots and jack-plug as well. What about putting a P-bass style pickup at the neck. I don't mind if it looks like a Frankenstein as long as it sounds OK. I plan on taking this bass around to gigs as a back-up for my $$ - I don't want to worry about batteries running out - so I want to keep it passive
 
What about a P pick up in the neck & a splittable humbucker in the bridge,in passive.Like a P-$.Appologies to Mats for stealing his idea. :D

That's my number one option at the moment - rather than just two soapbars! Do you (or anyone) know the make and model for splittable passive buckers?

Coil switching

im thinking about buying a streamer for myself, because i wanna get a bass in this price range, but is it possible to put a coil swich for each of the pickups into it like it is in the $$?
just to make a hole into the body and put a swich in isnt the problem, i think.
the main question is if there are already enough cables from the picups to the electronics.
 
Hi dasimmet... and welcome to the forum

I chickened out of changing my pickups... someone else had real trouble changing to EMG pickups and it put me off. I also decided that (through my pedal board) the streamer rockbass sounded pretty good anyway. I say through the pedal board as the only real problem I had was with low output... an off-board pre-amp solves that.

Try opening up a new thread with the same question, and I'm sure you'll get loads of advice!
