I hope this isn't too stupid a question - but here goes:
Any new Bubinga( Vette's in particular) Warwicks I have seen appear a fair bit lighter in hue than used or older models(though most of those I have seen only in pics). This phenomenon is really noticable "in person" so to speak. It does...
I'm sanding away the satin finish on the neck of my rockbass. Is the regular tung oil I use ok for maple? will it darken the wood? if not what kind of oil should I use?
Hey.
I just bought a Warwick Corvette STD NB. And damn ive played for 1 week and it allready got marks on the back where it has been teared against my jeans with buttons. Isnt that a little bit extreme? It got other marks on the body too.
How do you take care of yours? I mean it...
Guess I shouldn't have skipped over most of the "fretboard cleaning" posts. I want to clean the rosewood board on one of my basses and the store is closed. I found some "Orange Glo" wood cleaner and conditioner but it says not for use on unfinished or laquered surfaces. Is a rosewood board...
I've read that you shouldn't wax the coloured oil finishes, I'm wondering, what does waxing do to it?
Last night I decided to wax the neck of the Streamer STD, the cloth came away black from dirt, but a couple of coats of wax really brought the neck to life. That made me look at the body, it...
I find that my $$ marks like a bitch cause of the finish, the wood is SO soft and A ve only had it for about 2 mouths ands its "mojoed" to f**K, its bad news like :( Why dont warwick see this, does anyone else find this?????
P.S the sounds you can get out off this bad boy is unreal  :D
Is it possible to have only certain parts colored?
for instance: If I wanted a Stage I with only the body wings colored in a natural oil and have the neck natural oil, is that a posibility?
Or a colored top and a natural back on a Jazzman?
I don't recall this discussion explicitly....................
I read that the natural oil finish basses sound "woodier" than basses with high polish; I can understand this from a psychological point of view, but has anyone here done an A/B comparison, e.g. with an off the shelf Thumb or...
Some of the natural oil finished Warwick basses that I see in photos posted in this forum have a *wet look.* The finish almost looks like semi-glossy. How do you achieve that?
I've waxed my Thumb 2001 LTD twice since I got it a few weeks ago but it looks dry. I've read that basses like the...
If you do, do you use **plain linseed oil** or **boiled linseed oil**? The reason why I'm asking is I've heard a conflicting opinion about the type of linseed oil. Some say boiled linseed oil does a better job protecting the wood, but others say plain linseed oil is superior. What's your opinion?
It's been a freezing cold and ice/rainy winter here in oregon and my bass is really feeling it! The seems are sticking up and the wood is a bit ruff. I finally found the solution to this problem! Before I put a few coats of linseed oil on the bass let it soak in over night, Slapped on some wax...
Wondering who else here uses linseed or tung oil instead of the wax on your warwick? I find that the tung oil works quite a bit better than the wax does... A lil tung oil let it dry over night then use some steelwool and a lil linseed oil to take off the stickyness works alot better than the wax.
How often does this have to be done? i got my bass in may i haven't done this yet ? though i have been waxing my bass weekly for the first month now i do it monthly. I tihnk i need ot change the strings soon anyways, whats good to get rid of tarnish on frets?
I spent many years religiously oiling my beautiful thumb bass - that Warwick oil is so sticky and really smells nasty though.
Then I took my bass to get set up by a local master luthier - he really knows his stuff and has built some beautiful basses in the past. He's the only guy I'd trust to...
hi, i run out of beeswax, temporarily i use lemon oil (u.s. brand:d'andrea). can lemon oil resist moist? because moist are very plenty here in my current gig, i play reggae at the tropical; boracay island paradise. :(
I just bought my new Corvette $$ in black coloured oil finish. My dealer also sold me a pot of Warwick "surface finisher" wax for polishing the body. But in the enclosed owner manual, it says, that "all colored oil models are completely sealed by their finish" and "a wax treatment is not...
