What was your first bass?

well, mine was a rented upright from the school...:D
my first ELECTRIC, was an austin five string. its my back up for my back up. it sounds like claypools fretless (i don't know why thought).
 
mine was a squire jazz, with a VOX T25 amp, classic amp lets out a nice tone, their going to get over powered by my CS buzzard and my warwick rig tho, lol.

Ibanez SR400 Jazz bass - passive, Blue.

Thin fast neck, balanced perfectly, easy to play.

Deeper tone than expected, that surprised me (and my band mates).

Ultimately, very limited tone range though.

But very fun to play.
 
well my mates bassist quit and my mate just said to me as a joke "you should take up bass mate" then laughs. this was about 4 years ago.

over that weekend i went out and bought a casio bass package and went 2 skool and showed him

he was really suprised and said "dude, i was joking but ok"

still have it today and unlike alot of people sayin that there first bass was crap, well this was and still is a tops bass :D

my first bass was a mongrel j-bass made from some surplus and Greco japanese parts...

honestly, i quite miss it... i sold it to this kid who seemed serious in playing bass. i sold it to him for 7K php ... i think its like $150 ... and quite honestly, aside from having bad playability, it was a nice bass...

when i saw the bleached blonde, i wanted to get it just because it reminds me so much of my old one.

true i started with a peavey milestone3 (a mixture off a jazz and precision) and never sold it and i never will sell it.
sold a cort 5string, an esp ltd, fender jazz custom and even a thumb bolt on for my current warwicks but not my first peavey=)

My first bass was an used Ibanez SR 1000 4-string bass. I bought it in 1991. Very easy to play and good electronics and hardware, but definitely not the sound of wood :D
 
The first bass I bought with my own money was a Vantage flying Vee.That was about 23 years ago. :shock: Ya think I would've learned to play bass by now eh.
Luckily that didnt last very long & I managed to get my hands on a Fender Mustang.
 
My first bass was a used Ibanez Roadstar II, active pickups and passive electronics. I still own it and in fact played it today in a rehearsal and damn, it sounds still good! Good old japanese quality from the 80's. (I've tried to date it with the serial number and I believe it's made in 1985. )

not sure about that... My only reason to have my first bass again is to see how much better my current basses are!!

I got a lend of a bass, a no name brand of some kind. Which was kind of busted up, but I was very thankful for it. I even fixed it up for my friend and re-soldered all the electronics, aye, I was an endeavorous lad!!
Then after a couple of months I bought a blue fender squire P-bass with a white pick guard, I still think it sounds pretty good actually, except the machine heads are fu-barred cus i lent it to a band mates older brothers bass player, who was about 10 years older than me, but as i found out didnt have a clue actually how to string a bass properly, I learned an important lesson that day, if you take really good care of your stuff dont ever lend it to anyone else, because they will never treat properly..lol Especially when your 16/17 yrs old and you cant afford to go around buying stuff for idiots, who arent you, to break..lol
 
Mine was a killer Washburn XB200 Bantam bass, in black. Cost me R1600 (about 200 dollars) new, and I loved it.

Only had it for about 3 months though, and then traded it in with another R1500 for my teachers streamer, which is my favourite bass to this day.
