What effects do you use?

Previous to owning my Thumb BO4:

Boss LS-2, NS-2, PH-2, HR-2, CE-2B, MT-2, SYB-3
JD 105Q Bass Crybaby
1978 USA (op-amp) Big Muff pi
Alesis QVGT multi-fx (for delays/reverb & ring mod)

After getting my Thumb BO4:
Most songs, nothing. Occasionally use delay, wah & big muff. Everything is parked in the fx loop on the Quadraverb, which is bypassed when not in use.

Getting the Warwick killed fx for me - I love my basic tone so much now!

Also: just recorded a few weeks ago. Signal chain was Warwick > SansAmp RBI > dbx166 compressor > tube pre-amp > ProTools.

I heartily recommend dbx compressors, I'm hunting for one for my live rig

get a dbx160A, you can pickup one on ebay for a few hundred bucks, I use to compress bass in the studio all the time. And it works miracles in getting a very tight sound. I don't have one in my rack as of yet, something about the X-TREME 10.1 makes me feel really comfortable about my tone.

This one looks interesting. How about the Distressor (Empirical Labs)? Ever had exp. with that?

The Distressor is a great compressor. I actually used one a few days ago on vocals. It is a lot of money though, but if you can afford it, I say go for it, it is a great piece of gear.

Hi, I have a Boss TU-2, a ODB-2 and a Bass EQ. For now i'm just learning to work with them, lol :lol:
I don't need anything less, i've been playing Rock, Ska, and some "jazzistic" gigs, once in a while, only need clean signal.

i use an ME-8B... mostly the compressor, synth, octave, t-wah

I have the ME-8B too, but I always get feedback when I have it on and turn towards my amp.
