What effects do you use?

Was just wondering which effects do you guys use... I've got an Akai Deep Impact bass synth for which I haven't found much use yet, and plan to get a Fulltone Bassdrive overdrive. I had a Boss ODB-3 overdrive but sold it, too harsh-metallic sounding and killed my tone
 
Mostly no effects whatsoever. But on occasion:
TC Electronics Sustain + Parametric EQ
Electro Harmonix Mini Q-Tron
 
I have a BOSS GT6B.
I use the following effects in it:
Distortion
Flanger
Phaser
Chorus
Delay
Reverb
Slow Gear
Compression
Auto Wah, Touch Wah
Octaver
 
That's impressive.

I've heard great things about the EBS bass IQ.
Being in a R&B band, I'm a big fan of envelope filters.

Me, I use a couple of multi processors:
Either a Digitech BNX 3 or if the stage is cramped a Digitech BP 80.
There's only 3 or 4 patches that I'll use in the course of the night.
But when I'm practicing at home...its' crazy time!
 
The only effect I use is good ol' Tube Overdrive, and not digital Tube overdrive REAL Tube overdrive. :D
 
I use a Boss ME 50 B, in manual mode, set up with an octave divider, distortion, chorus/reverb and wah from left to right, and then a Boss gigadelay DD20 both mounted in a pedal board case.
 
Speaking of effects & such,what do you guys think of this line 6 variax bass?It says it has 24 different bass types with its modelling jargon i cant explain clearly right now so heres a link,see what ya's think.
By the way,this isnt spam.

I say i will never need 394584578 different sounds in one bass, tho i tried one at my local shop and it's not bad..but it's like playing a keyboard, no soul :D (same thing with line6 heads)
Anyway i'd like to compare all those sounds with it's original to see how faithful they are :)
 
getting back to the topic, just a bit of compression and tube overdrive recording, and the pure sound of wood live :D
 
I use:

BOSS ME-8B Multifx

Hartke VXL Preamp/DI

DIGITECH X-series Bass Overdrive

...I use the VXL regularly, to make the Vampyre sound like anything I want it to sound like. Usually I bypass the onboard preamp, and use VXL instead.

The Digitech ads a bit of harsness and rugged sound to the bass, and the BOSS ME-8B is merely for fun, but I use the chorus for solos and the synth bass for intros.

That's it. But I use that delay so much I think I might need to buy another one for shows. Getting tired of bending down and re-setting it all the time. This pedal has a ton of ability. I have been able to get some really nice effects out of it.
 
Does volume & lots of it count as an effect? :lol: I have a digitech BP50 but i only use a fraction of its effects,its fun to play with but a bugger to get your head around everything it does & how to do it,the manual isnt much help either. :cry:
 
I just use my Tech 21 SansAmp for some crunch on the treble side. For recording, it's amazing.
 
I use a BBE 264R exciter. It works great on the string tone and growls.
 
Actually, I don't. I keep the pedalboard on one of the amps and hit it with my knuckles (which sometimes end up in a minor bloodbath when I miss) :wink: When I was playing guitar I built an effect rack and had toggle swiches but I think that the EBS board is cool enough to show so I let it be as it is / mats
 
I use a Neve Compressor from a I/O strip that a friend of mine adapted for me to be a 19" single rack space. I also have the Neve EQ and preamp which I bypass most of the time to use the one in my HA4000 Amplifier. I also use a BBE maximizer to bring up the lows a little bit.

That's pretty much the kind of effects that I use on my setup.
 
Aphex compresser - I originally bought this as a battery powered pre-amp as I used to go through a battery powered PA doing gigs on a train (I'm not joking! Not recommended though, as you keep having to get out of the way of the conductor - the train conductor, not a musical conductor). I just use a touch of compression - the rest of the band seem to like it!

Aphex bass exciter - great pedal - I keep the tone controls on my Mark Bass amp flat and use the pedal for EQ. Then I can use the amp controls for any dodgy acoustics in the room, and use the bass controls only during a gig for easy tone variations

Boss Bass Chorus - for those slower fretless moments - not used much at the moment

Boss tuner pedal - essential kit - tune up silently in seconds while the lead singer is adjusting his make-up. I also use it as a mute pedal

Overall, though, I go through phases - sometimes I go for effects, sometimes I don't. The tuner is well worth having though
