What colour for my Streamer Broadneck 5

Hey folks - as I've raved on here about lately I have a new Streamer Broadneck. Loving it. It is however a rubbed oil finish and the way I sweat I'm gonna destroy it. I am going to have it sealed and more than likely painted. What colour would look best do you think. White (Lex?), black (fingerprint magnet), or any other suggestios, but before you answer it's gonna be used in a Euro style metal band (original) and hard rock cover band!
P.S. I dont usually like natural high gloss.
 
You have a high grade flamed maple, right? I'd let the natural looks, or honey violin, to show the beauty of the grain :-)
 
Hey Flo - I understand where you are coming from but the flame on my bass is almost non existant and I really like the idea of black or white I think. Maybe trans black or white - dunno - I am typically a simple guy when it comes to finish. Keep throwing ideas though guys!
 
how 'bout a nice shade of grey?

If it was my bass, I'd leave it as is. Sweat all over it a give it some mojo!
 
I just got my first SSI. Its a 1990 and the finish is just fine. Some spots but.....
The flame on my is not really all that prominent either. Im leaving mines the way it is. A little oil from time to time. I cant stand paint though so.......

Maybe Baby Sh*t Green???
 
Not sure if that shade of green is really what I'm after! I really do need to finish the bass. Have owned 2 natural basses (Ibby BTB1305 and Ibby Affirma A305) and within 6 months turned the wood a crappy grey colour. I dont dig the Mojo factor - it's not something that appeals to me! I would love black but it would pick up findgerprints like no ones business so I am leaning towards white, but who knows - someone with a good argument may sway me.
Then again no one may care!
Have I mentioned yet that I love my Streamer....8:
 
aybe even matte black? Just saw a custom shop LX with this finish. Not oil, definitely laquered but with a matte finish. Hmmmmm....

If the finger prints bug you on shiny "piano"
black, your gonna hate matte "stealth" black.
Not only do your finger prints show like some
crime lab exhibit, but whole shiny areas will
develop which ultimately become permanent.

Just get the glossy red. Thaz what gloss was
invented for, to be red.

I've never seen a Warwick in burst finish, not
a one. I spoze it's not offered. So have it sent
to you unfinished and send it out for a burst
job. One of a kind, and a burst looks great on
any stage.

When it comes to maple,regardless of figuring,there is only one finish.

I want to do other things to my Warwick....8:
I think I will just go with gloss black. It will attract fingerprints but it's metal and I really do need to get it done.
 
Just once,it'd be nice to see a metal bands bassist not playing a black bass.
A fella can dream :)
 




I almost bought a pink Guild Pilot.

When I saw it hanging used, I just assumed it
had been a metal bass ... so I passed, thinking
it had prolly led a hard life already.

I really dig Pilots. The pink woulda been in good
company with my blue one. It was sorta "Dunkin
Donuts pink", a really strong hue, not the poofty
"Barbie-was-here pink" that Fender uses.

Don't have pix of a pink ax I never had, but the
pink was a rich color, a real match for the blue
that you can check out in the pic below.​

Hey Greg - yeah I thought black was a bit lame too, but for me it was either black or white. Maybe white then. Lex's basses look great. It's just that when I mentioned white to some of my band mates my sexual orientation was questioned! You know Aussie blokes!
