OK! just for a laugh!

I use the Thumb/$$ about 70/30 at gigs. Rehearsing last night, I thought the $$ sounded so good I couldn't decide which bass to use on my next gig on Saturday... so I thought I'd throw it over to you lot!

The gig is a charity "mini-festival" at Meltham near Huddersfield UK. If the place sounds familiar to any of you, it's because it's the home of legendary amp makers Matamp... and I believe they're sponsoring the show!

Thought about including my Rockbass in the poll, but it's got flatwounds on it at the moment and I've decided to put some EMPs on it to see how it sounds.

If the Vette sounded groovy at practice I say use it at the gig.Great idea this poll mate, most bass players would be envious if they had to choose between your basses.

I voted for the $$. I don't know why, but I did. I'm generally a fan of the Thumb, but for variety, the $$ wins.

thethumb BO needs more publicity :) (plus the thumb looks very sexy in the rain, and it is an outdoor english festival  )

I have voted for the thumb. You cannot go wrong with that one :-)

LOL, that's a nice little problem you have there Saxon.

Go for $$!!

TAKE BOTH!!! Problem solved!!

+1 I always bring 2 basses. If anything should happen you can swap quickly. Also for different sounds but hey.... Btw I voted for the Thumb

I went with the Thumb, for some reason, don't ask why cause I have no idea, I don't like Corvettes. They lok like nice basses, but something just turns me off.

That's ironic to me, because I think Thumbs and Corvettes look almost the same! Like thumperton mentions, the longer horn(s) must just not sit right. I certainly can't say too much, I don't care for the Streamer shape. I used to think it was the "looks like a Specter" factor, now they just seem so "droopy". I dunno. :?

I voted $$. Big surprise, eh? :D

Thanks for the replies and votes so far... the Thumb is making a bit of a sprint for the finish, but it's looking like the $$ is going to win.

The Thumb and Corvette do have a bit of a "family shape" in common, but the Thumb is just so sexy in the flesh, partly due to the contouring, I think.

As for a back up... that'll be the rockbass.

Oh didn't see that :) Well then I say BRING THE THUMB!

You should never go out to gig without the Thumb !
I always take a Thumb with me, even if I own several basses !

Holy crap, Thumbfreak - 6 Thumb basses?

You live up to your name, brother. Does your local music store only stock Thumbs or what??? :P

 I just felt in love with the Thumb.
They all are a little different to each other (sound & construction).
I just love them all, especially the NTs. Now it's ok, I don't need anything else ! 8)

Holy ****!

I'm setting off in half an hour... thought I'd do one last check and it's a dead heat (at this moment in time)

I'm going to have the casting vote (even though I've already voted in my own poll) and go for ... erm... the Thumb!

Some of you may remember the story of the guy who borrowed my Thumb at the Huddstock festival... well his band are headlining and they've arranged the whole gig... so it'll be interesting to see if he's traded in his Musicman for a Thumb

He also reckons the Matamp PA is going to sound awesome for the bass!
I'll let you know how I got on... and thanks for the comments!

The upper horn that, um, is most likely the reason that Corvette's don't have the neck dive problems that Thumbs do?

Sorry, I had to say it... :P
