Enchanted by this when I first heard it in the winter of ‘76 and still enthralled with its atmospherics- also love the subtle high hat work-

So for something a little different- the past four days I’ve been moving from one storage unit to another owing to the former’s being demolished for a highway expansion (they knew about it in July but only told me a week ago). So after a long day in Gulf Coast Texas heat and humidity I found comfort in these two songs from, of all people, The Clash!

You know Paul Simonon regretted the destruction of that white P-bass in the iconic photo-

I am not sure what to say about this, we could say the same things about MR Palladino for example who gets a lot of attention, without being exactly Vic Wooten. Not a hottie either.
It takes a lot to be in that league, and it is not about how spectacular you are as bass player, very little about the looks, and a lot about work ethics, and how willing you are to do a lot of sacrifices. I am pretty sure her spot is well deserved. And she is a great bassist anyway.

This is a friend's band, he plays the bass. I think after a while of playing they have finally found their self and their sound as a band. Production is big (what's with all new productions, they sound HUGE). Guest solo guitar by Thiago Oliveira and some very cool bass playing and tone from my friend Stavros.

I 've been maniacally listening to Enthrone Darkness Triumphant for the past three months. It's the soundtrack of my life. I think it's their best work by far, and I don't appreciate their other work much. I also happen to think that Nagash has done a marvellous job with the bass here. Going back to this record after something like 15 years, it's a completely different experience with much more detail.

Gateways had a few good moments, but nothing compared to In Sorte Diaboli and albums past. Cracker of an album.

So after these past few cataclysmic weeks I took pause to be thankful for the life I’ve had and this song from 1983 came to mind-

I stumbled upon this interesting, and timely, video by a band called Fellow Robot and thought I would share it:
