Came home with this yesterday!

Used Thumb BO 4, year 2004 model.

Would I be right in saying the body and neck are Ovangkol and the fingerboard Wenge (they didn't seem to sure in the shop)?

I took the pics (which are not too great, sorry) this morning so it's not had a good clean up and waxing yet as I need to get some. There are a few marks on it and a small ding in the headstock, but overall I think it's in very good condition.

Oh by the way...I love it! :D

Hmm, that didn't work then. I went to browse for the image and then clicked add attachment. What am I doing wrong?
 
Can you upload pics directly from your hard drive or do they have to be hosted on some picture hosting site?
 
go into editing your original post, then go to the bottom to add the file, then click browse and look for your file and then ok. go ahead and preview the post and the second pic in the same manner and do the same for the third (I think it will only allow 3 pics per post so you can make another post with additional pics) when you're done then preview one more time to ensure all the pics are there and then submit. that should work.

Hurry up we want to see it.
 
I tried that again, browsed for the file then clicked add attachment, but nothing appears in the text body :?

Am I missing a step?
 
Maybe you try to upload a file that is too large.
 
I forgot to say that.. after you click to upload it and preview it (the first pic) then check the very top of the page because sometimes you get the message the file is too big.
 
Yes they were to big!

Here's some more, but it looks a lot better in the flesh. I'll try and take some better pics.

Seems to me that you were right. Body Ovangkol, neck Ovangkol and fretboard Wenge.

Got there in the end, first thing I should have done was check the image size :oops:

Just out interest I read a lot about neck dive problems before I bought the Thumb, but I use a wide suede strap and it's fine.
 
Another forum member referred me to get some weights used for tires that you can get at O'reilly (auto part store) that have the paper film in the back because they have self adhesive.. I got some of them, put thism in the elec cavity making sure they do not touch the elecs (still they are lead so they do not conduct electricity) and that took care fo the little Neck dive issue I had. but this was primarily on 5 stringer ones since the size of the neck is bigger in proportion to the body so the neck dive is there most of the time. Also the way the pick ups are placed on 5s (slanted) in comparison to the 4s makes you play the instrument almost paralell to the floor.

Still with these issues no other like good old Thumb sound fat and compressed.

Congrats here as well - nice looking bass and you already know it's tone and feel are incredible!

I have a Thumb NT and a nice, wide Levy's strap, as well as a wide Warwick strap, and with either one, I have no problems with neck dive. The Thumb is my favorite bass of all time - good job!
 
Yes, the one I use is a Levy, definitely recommend them.

I love the sound, looks, feel, in fact everything about it! I'm already thinkiing in terms of another Warwick, hmm...Thumb NT!

Mind you while I was there they had a Corvette $$ and fretless which I played. Maybe one of those. In fact the fretless is really tempting!
 
That is a great bass you have there. I've owned my Thumb BO 4 for nearly 5 years now, some of that gigging 3-4 nights per week. The bass sounds great, feels great, looks great and stays in adjustment. It has never let me down.

I absolutely love my Warwicks and the Thumb BO4 holds a special place, since I use it most often. (I was an old Fender Jazz Bass guy and I for me the Thumb is a much better sounding, much better quality-made instrument.)

Dude you like the same basses I like: The Thumbs (formally I have 3 but one which is an NT have not been picked up from seller yet) and the Vette $$ ( which I have 2 and selling one right now). I also tried the latter portion of last year a Corvette Bubinga Passive fretless and wow i loved the sound of that baby even more than the Ash and Bubinga Active Corvettes they also had in stock and compared the passive with.

that's in my list but if I can try a Thumb NT oir BO in fretless I am afraid that this poor Vette passive fretless will be bumped down to the next lower below my GAS list.

Yeah, "what to buy next" seems to have been the theme of 2007 for me! :lol:
I have two fretless Bubinga Corvette Stds. and a de-fretted Dirty Blonde LTD Thumb BO, and a Corvette $$ (which I put a Kahler tremolo on), and finally, a Streamer Std. with a Swirly Bubinga top.

Next up for this year (in two weeks) is a Genz Benz Shuttle combo amp for use at my church. The 3.0-10T gives 175W into a 1x10 with horn (300W w/ext. cab) and weighs only 18lbs. TOTAL, yet shakes the room! Then there's a 6.0-12T, which is 375W into a 1x12 (600W w/ext. cab) and weighs only 31lbs! Talk about light-weight "giants!"

RockBag/Wick over shoulder, amp in hand - I'm good to go!
