effect, and is equally strange looking without the ergonomic benefits
I can see in this bass, so I'm hearing some knee-jerk sheep bahhhd
mouthing this ax on appearances alone. Just change the headstock
to a Gumby with a W on in, and, well, you know how sheep act .....

hell no man! not even a "W stryker ltd" headstock can save this bass! actually, not even a butterfly can make me curious about it too.

a bass is kinda like a girlfriend ... you love her for her looks and attitude as much as you love a bass for its looks and sound.

and a vampyre isnt ergonomic? ... ok, so it might not look Fender inspired (ok, just kidding, it is fender inspired with sharpened horns) but i can pretty much play it the way i play fenders and musicmans, unlike say a buzzard where i have to set my strap a certain way, while i keep checking whether the upper wing would hit somebody's elbow or something.

Im confident to say that the vampyre would be more comfortable than this monstrosity

but hey... honestly, i will never know. if i have $2.5K, this bass would be the last thing id be spending my hard-earned money on. i would go check out warwick strykers, or that vampyre NT ive been GAS-sing about.

+1 on its specs ... but we all know specs tend to look good on paper.

If anyone has a soundclip, post it.

you might find this weird guys, but while i was in one of our really old malls here, i saw a local GUITAR called Lazer (ok, it could be China too) and surprise... it looks exactly like this bass! except it comes in some mint green color and some crappy cocolumber wood *lol* its so horrible!

wait, i will go back there and TAKE A PHOTO of it... to see is to believe.

this weirdo thing is ergonomically successful, and it's an informed
speculation, cuz I really know what I'm looking at. You OTOH, are
saying you are "confident" of the opposite. Confident based on what ?
From what can be read in thread, based on nothing but a gathering of
closed minds.

using the word "confident" just happens to leverage my rant, so really,
I oughta thank you ...... so "Thank You" to you.

I will offer you slight evidence that I know what I'm seeing: I won't
support my claim of it's likely ergo-goodness, since most participants in
this thread would be knee-jerk dismissive of that, and two more wasted
pages of thread space would ensue. Nothing is perfect [go ahead, quote
me on that, outa context .....] so despite the ergo-goodness I see there,
I'll share this one negative observation:

Even tho it has a typical "waistline" with a "leg curve" on the lower edge,
this is basically a strap-hung bass to play standing up. The knobs and
PU's are awfully close to the lower edge. For sit-down playing, the
vertical reach will take some getting used to and the knobs can easily
get accidentally twirled by your pants, as they do on a Steinberger unless
you pack friction yarn under the knobs.

Actually, Bergers are kinda odd on the vertical reach as well, but are
miraculous basses on their overall merits and are truly uglee, certainly
not organic, altho highly ergo-cool for playing while standing up.

Modern athletic footwear looks laughable compared to the classic,
"real" look of old Keds or new Chucks. But the newer wacko alien-look
footwear is better for your feet. An old Colt revolver has a classic "form
follows function" look to it, but really, the grip shape is vastly inferior to
the organic forms of custom carved tournament target pistol grips
[which are reminiscent of the bass you all laff at].

I stand by my sheep comments, and you all can stand by your clearly
uninformed adolescent "me-too" piling on game. Regardless of who may
be correct or mistaken here, I can solidly observe that no detractors of
the weird bass have offered a single supportable reason why this ax is a
loser ... not even any insigtdul or experience-based comments. You all
just sneer at it based on a few unflattering quick & dirty product photos.

If I acted like you do, I'da missed out on acquiring my cool Warwicks,
cuz "everybody knows" that Wicks are just overweight misbegotten
Spector knock-offs plus some uglee variations on the theme, priced too
high, and the uglier, the higher the price. And they rape the rainforests !!

those who talk and act that way ? Look in the mirror and clean up your
own act first.

OK, so you had a verbose justification on why it is "not bad." no arguments there - i actually learned a lot. i still think it looks ugly. and dont worry, my opinion wont matter anyway ... i dont have verbose arguments to justify why it looks fugly, so you win.

if you had any part in endorsing/making/designing this bass, then i apologize for my "bad choice of words" regarding the bass... if that is the case, i would be more than happy to delete or reword all of my posts regarding this bass.

If I didn't make the meaning clear, that your comment was just a
leverage point for what I admitted openly to be a rant, that there is
nothing personal, and that the "thank you" is real, then I'm sorry if it
reads otherwise.

I try to be careful, which can lead to verbosity. Writing at length is not
about "oratory". I just try to say things as accurately as I can, to avoid
misunderstandings in this text-based place. Sometimes it's still not enuf
[but thaz not to say I'll make them even longer .... ].

And the sheep thing ? Pleeaaze, it's not aimed at any single person, but
OK I don't deny it's aimed at a group, and you fall in the group. Why the
sheep comment ? Cuz there's something really not right at all about a
unanimous group badmouthing of something that no one in the group
has touched, or even smelled.

Some of my my uglee babies:

The top/first is an all mahogany ax that plays so easy and sounds so
great that everyone who plays it falls in love with it.

In the middle is a plastic fantastic. Entire body and the FB are plastic.
What does it sound like ? Well, it sounds like plastic of course. Seriously,
it's made of the same thing as trees are made of "fibre reinforced
resin". It's just a different blend.

Lastly but not leastly, yours truly on the IOB [Infamous Orange Boingo].

Well the Boingo would prolly look a whole lot better without me on it ....

But really, the Boingo is just uglee. And GC made it all worse by
mindlessly ordering lotsa them with white PGs. I don't the think
the "toilet seat" thing would have had such legs if it hadn't been for all
those white oval PGs, not that the Boingo shape has any sort of artistic
merit ..... just the toilet thing and the white oval sort go together. Both
mine came from GC with white toilet lids and I changed them both.

The Boingo neck is just right for me, the tone is classic and all-purpose,
the EQ is phenominal, noise level sub-zero, and I got them both new, at
stoopid low clearance prices. But the body is neither ergonomic nor
easy on the eyeballs.

FWIW, all 4 of my Wicks were likewise acquired due to irresistable
prices. I know what I like in a bass, and I'm not wealthy, so I choose
basses, but I don't choose bass makers. I have a number of Wicks and
EBMMs not cuz I chose the companies as my favored suppliers, but
because they are well-stocked locally so plenty of used bargains and
new overstock bargains pop up.


I have one GnL and it's terrific, but they never turn up around here, so
it's my only GnL [bought online 3000 mi away]. There's no stocking GnL
dealer locally. To me, my GnL is like another StingRay with some odd
mods. I don't really differentiate between my Spectors and my Wicks,
even tho Stuart Spector's shop is almost right in the neighborhood
