We Are Broke, Need Help!!!

Well, you are registered in 2015, you don´t remember the red warning pages, the hacks, the data being vulnerable, the forum freezing or being off for days, with bugs that nobody were able to find, with infected files nobody were able to find etc...
Before that we moved to VBulletin5, which was a total disaster, it almost killed the forum. They were the only ones that were able to migrate us from VBull5 to Xenforo, and cleaned all the malware. You see now the green htpps lock, not many forums are as safe as us.
So it is a team from Argentina, specialized in Forum softwares. First months I made them cry with tons of requests (you have no idea!!!). Now, they take care that everything works smoothly, check for errors, save the data daily, install latest versions, etc.
Also every time we have some special requests they do. For example we moved to htpps a couple of months, or did some settings for mailing, or check some other settings, or change skins, I don,t know, everything we need they do without any charge.
Knowing how much they worked I think it is pretty fair, and to be honest, I feel very safe with them having our back. I don´t even want to remember how it was before them!!!
 
Thanks for explaining. I was not aware that it requires so much maintenance. I thought computers run by themselves more or less :) once you get them in operation. Cheers and thanks to anybody that donates.
 
You are welcome. I am not the most active user but people here said nice things about my bass when I got it. That I have not forgotten :-)

Yowzer. I will definitely put more dough towards the good vibe zone. There should be enough regulars and old timers here, that we can each fork over 50 bucks every 3-6 months type thing. I can give right now. No worries. Just want to make sure the site stays alive.

Flo, let us know exactly what needs to be paid, by exactly what date. Then maybe we can have a sticky thread devoted to the fund raising.

Let's set a number, reach that number and keep the site going.

As I've mentioned before....I'm not super thrilled with HP for not being willing to cough up what amounts to pocket change for him, every few months, for a forum that does more to sell, promote and give tech support for Wick basses and players, WAY more than their own advertising campaign or support staff. Silly. I mean REALLY silly.

Anyhoot, I know for a fact (based on Wick purchases) that there are plenty of regulars on here to keep this site alive. It really won't take much for each of us to pitch in. Let's do this.

I hate being a persistent basshole (lol), but we need a quickly accessible crowdfunding-type page with a progress bar "current / total". Both tpa and Hoggles indicate that they had/have no clue what the needs were. tpa even used the keyword "aware", although for a slightly different issue. To be honest I can't think of all the pros and cons with any new solution we choose, if any. But I think awareness is critical. Perhaps we could simulate such a "current status" functionality with a simple monthly thread.
 
It is not the forum software that is expensive. Keep in mind that we also have free hosting provided by Rohost. It is the team making sure we are safe. PhpBB is a good software, but as any open source, it is way more vulnerable than this. Also the admin control now is at a different level, we have more power to administrate, control spam, etc.
We are probably using the best forum software out there, and I don´t think it is a good idea to change it. We used PhpBB at the beginning, I know the program very well, and we had serious reasons to migrate from it!

Well the reason is that I managed to pay it myself, with of course a little help with you guys, so It was not an issue. But we can keep an open topic with the situation from now.
Being able to pay directly here allow us to automatically know the Supporting Members, and to automatically add the badge, or give extra permissions.
And it is easy to anybody to check the Supporting Members and do the math, everything is 100% transparent. Do you have other reasons to suggest moving this fund raising to another platform? I think being able to do it via the forum software directly is pretty cool!
 
We are 5 supporting members, raising 16´51 EUR monthly ATM. I will pay for the difference anyway, so any help is appreciated.
 
I created this forum (actually renamed it)

It can be a fun little hidden place for Supporting Members. I don´t always feel comfortable asking for help or sharing my little knowledge in public, so actually being hidden from outside can make a safe place for us to improve our bass technique and musicality.

Please check if you have permissions, it should work for Supporting Members, sponsors and Admin Team.

What do you think?

I agree it would be cool to have a crowd funding bar, so we can donate over time and see the contribution increasing,
 
Does anyone know what other forums do to raise expenses costs? I only see for sale fees, some adverts

I guess you could get adverts for the "Girls in your area want to connect with you!" type advertising ? - if it covers costs..
 
Good news!!! Since the work required is not as big as in the beginning, the IT guys agreed to let us half the fee, so it means we have to raise only about 55-60 EUR/ month.
We are now 6 supporting members raising 19 EUR/ month, almost half way :)
 
HP Wilfer just answered us, they cannot support us anymore... But we care so close now to survive without external help :)

So do you think it is a good idea to move the crowdfunding outside the foum? I have zero experience with that, but I could learn.

I find it easier here, because it automatically change your status on the forum when you help us, and being recurrent, it is easy to keep track. We just need a (small) critical mass of regulars.

Right now we are covering together 19 EUR of 60 monthly :) This is cool!

So I found 54 EUR in a card account I forgot, and moved them here, and also Verb donated 50 EUR, and started a subscription too (thanks @verb !)So right now we have 130 EUR which is almost Half of what we need now, and we are 7 supporting members, that means 23,5 EUR each month. We are almost there :)
