We Are Broke, Need Help!!!

Here is the thing... I need now to pay for mentainance, and also the forum's licence expired, we could be vulerable if we don't renew it... And I am kinda jobless since March.
If some of you guys have any idea how to fund our forum, now would be the prfect moment :-)
 
Maintenance costs about 350 EUR each 3 months, that means 100-1sh/ month.
Software licence- I have to look, it is not clear to me if 40 EUR, or 150. I am not sure if 40 EUR is not a fist year offer... Have to ask.
 
We are in Facebook and youtube era, so the bass news get to you faster than I could post here. So what you think we could do to help this community in order to keep it alive? The only thing I know is some bass, and I would gladly give to the community some bass hacks, one per week, or each other week, but I am not sure If my level is high enough to really bring a valuable contribution. I don,t know what elese I could do.
What do you think this community should give back for support?
 
Oh man, big problems. Only advertising could help out. But when even Warwick withdrew I suppose it will not really be possible to find a new partner.
 
That will stop the fs adds I am afraid. And we could not ask for a fee, since we all know the traffic is pretty low here.
 
We could start a FB group if we can't come up with a sustainable source of income.....I hate to be the guy to say that, but it's an option to keep BA alive in some form
 
I like the idea of premium content for contributors. Classes, discounts and crazy deals on some products with strategic partners would be awesome. Just an idea.

A youtube channel with review content, sound samples of diferent basses in different musical contexts, music, covers ... might give some views globaly.

I wrote to HP to ask for support, maybe he will help. But yes... somehow I am not even sure what we could do, but a possibility would be a "safe place" for contributors, where we could share to each other tips tricks, and musical ideas, without being public, and to become a place where we all work together to become better bassists. I mean... if we are 20 guys contributing with 5 EUR each monthly, this could save us, and also give us a really nice safe place to improve our playing, and more important - to stay in contact with fellows like us :) Facebook leaves no trace in time, Facebook have no memory...
As you se, me and a couple more are "supporting members" each month a few EUR are going to support the forum, and I don,t really feel them... But we are only a few. We had huge support at the beginning from members that donated for the forum even amounts like 100 EUR, and that saved us, but we don;t really need that kind of money to survive.

Maybe I am just a dreamer :)
 
I have a cunning plan (Baldrick used to say this one in Black Adder)

I propose this: That we find a nice crowdfunding site that:

1) Makes it very easily visible what our monthly needs are (target amount and current contributed amount)
2) Makes it very easy to donate (the practical issues)

I also have this proposal. No contributing members special status or privileges. To be honest, I have no clue why I am proposing this. I think of the forum as completely horizontal, nobody stands above any other member.

We can have a monthly thread in a section of the forum. For example "December 2017". On this one, Florin, who will be in charge of the crowdfunding account on the site he chooses, makes an initial announcement what the month's needs are. In the first post of the thread we have a link to the crowdfunding campaign for the month. On every contribution he posts a small update (anonymous) with a thanks and the new total contributed. Also a few times in the month, (weekly and 2 days before the month ends) also a post with contributed amount and total needed. What I am thinking about is how do we remind members and also how to let them know what the month's needs are, how much of it is covered.

What do you guys think?
 
I agree, if we can have more supporting members that might cover it......so I just became one again

And yes, I personally don't like the forums on FB, its not that useful in that you cant search topics. It's more or less a giant blog of random postings.

If you want to go the advertising route let me know and I'll get you in touch with the owner of Bass Strings Online. He's the only guy I know that will pay to advertise.

Also a note about HPW, I would LOVE IT if he gave us the Unofficial W Forum status again. I would be happier with that than any financial contribution of his. I guess we have to prove to him that we are not a liability (safe site, no hacking) and that we can only contribute positively to the brand. Also be a form of history in the online presence of the company. This forum is more than 10 years old.

It's not about transparency, but awareness. Members know what the current status is.

Great ideas Yanni! But why don,t we use our forum for that, I mean we already have the Donate button, and of course we could be 100% trasnparent about the needs and the amount we have in.
For example 2 minutes ago a forumer donated 5 EUR, we have a total of 17,94 EUR, and we kinda need 350 EUR :)
Look, no matter what happens, I will pay for it these days, but with a small contribution we could be ready for next time.
 
We are 4 supporting Members with recurring payments now (thank you, RIP, sir!!!)
For the 3 EUR, we get 2,55 EUR and for 5 EUR we get 4,43 EUR. It means we already raise 14 EUR/ month for our place :)

Wow, is it really that expensive !? What is maintenance, if I may ask?
