warwick streamer stage 2 5str.

I declare the SSII's voice the sexiest bass voice on the planet!
 
hey guys, can you tell that ss2 from 88 or 89 is a lot better sounding or just a neck slimmer or something?
 
i got a 88 ssII, and it has a wenge neck, emg pickups and the body wood is highly figured, so it's quite different to all the other streamers before and after...
 
hey iuserneim, your warwick sounds great, I wish that mine could sound more agressive and crispie. Maybe you know when warwick started to make Streamer stage 2 5stringers ?

how come you know how by bass sounds ? did you find the soundclips ?


i really don't know when the first SSII 5 string was made. but there are others in here who know it.

And about the year - probably 4 strigers it was started to make in 88 but 5 fingers probably later, just interesting when? Anyway probably there's no way to find one of
the early streamer stage 5 strigers on market:(

you mean wenge, the wood that needs razor sharp tools ?

from the factory that has bubinga flooring, that uses wood scraps to heat the factory, and helps to power the surrounding areas ?

according to Florin it was released in 86

However the earliest I have ever seen was a late 87er

Hello - just registered...posting to this thread because my trusty 5-string Thru neck Thumb (bought new in '02) suffered a terrible calamity when my bathroom (directly above where I stored my bass) flooded.
Am now pretty certain that I will be replacing it with a 5 string SSII - the trick is I am going to have to order it blind without ever actually playing one (there aren't that many for sale in Scotland, you know). I've heard the audio clips at the top of this thread but I would appreciate some advice as to how different the SSII will really be in terms of playability. Thanks in anticipation.
 
the thumb has some neck-dive. those who can handle the thumb will deny that.
well, the streamer doesn't have neck dive.
it's sits in a comfortable 40° angle.
my 4-string streamer weights 4.6kg. (don't know how much your thumb is)

also, i heard that the thumb feels quite odd at the beginning because the first fret seems out of reach.
the streamer doesn't have that problem.
now, in my humble opinion, the streamer shape is the perfect, because it balances well, the body is not too big, but large enough so it doesn't have neck dive or look silly on a tall guy.

now, in case you wonder how the streamer sounds compared to the thumb:
in my opinion, the growl of the thumb is more like snarling, while the growl of the SSII is more like rumbling thunder.
it has more and deeper lows, and a good dose of low mids. the mid frequency of the thumb seems to be a bit higher, am i right ?

when you look at the pickup position, you will understand why

I have tried Thumb ones in a shop and I was happy with a neck feel ( i mean it's definitely not worse then SS2), just was not using a belt so don't know what's with that neck dive... Sorry
 
Thanks both for your input. I never exeperienced any neck dive but I do know that the 1st fret seems miles away - think it is to do with the small body. My Thumb weighs a whole lot more than it ought to since it absorbed all the damp from my leaking bathroom - neck warped beyond economical repair (confirmed with the dealer and the people at Warwick). Looking forward to the SSII though.
