Warwick streamer stage 1: remove the wenge fretboard?

I think abouth replacing my fingerboard...

Hi there fellow bassplayers,
I am a proud owner of a Warwick bass. I'm considdering to remove the wenge fretboard and add another new one (by a manufactor). I think of these woods:
1. - maple?
2. - ebony?
3. - pau ferro?
A. What do you think?
B. I also added a poll: are you thinking about replacing the wenge fingerboard sometimes?
C. And what would you expact of the tone of these woods in combination with the streamer?

Some info: bartolini soapbars, elektronics, 5 string and wenge laminate neck-trough bass made in 1991.

I hope to hear some reactions. Since I would like to make the safest choise I can make.
 
Please keep that wengé fingerboard.
Otherwise, you'll regret it!

Moreover a 1991 Streamer shoul have a very nice piece of Wengé...
 
If it was me I would keep it original, but it's you. Change it if you want but keep the original around...

JPS: hi, and I like the idea that there would not be much difference between wenge and ebony if I use frets (wich I do). Ellio is know well to me and I also played a year on a traditional. He replaced my fingerboard on my Tobias...

I think about Pau ferro very much because of the nice sound (even so on fretless) and because of underscore my own playsound; I do not want to wipe out my own voice!
 
Hello, I voted no. Wenge has quickly became my favorite board. After years of maple or rosewood, wenge is a nice change. Looks cool too. :D
To me Warwick is kind of like Apple Computers, as in "Think Different." Now, is there something about the wenge you don't like?

Thanx for the replies...
I have desided to firstly replace the pickups by Ellio Martina's (with nice padouk as a cover!) and to keep the wenge.
Thanx for the kind words en thoughts. I realy like the poll and It helped me to make my desiscion regarding the fretboard.
