Warwick Streamer $$ sounds

Hi guys,

I want a really versatile bass once. I have great one or two trick ponies like a Precision and a Rickenbacker, but I want something allround.

At the moment I'm thinking about a standard Streamer $$. I searched on the forum for a while, but the search engine doesn't accept '$$' and I couldn't find what I wanted to know. But I'm sure there are guys around here who can tell me this:

Can you describe some sounds you can get out of a Streamer $$? Like bridge pick up vs. neck pick up and both. Series vs. parallel. Please giimme your reviews!

Some of my forum friends may kill me, but I don't think that the $$ is more versatile than other basses. Just because they have more pickups...
The bass has it's own character, and you can have more variations of pretty much the same basic sound. Ok, only the bridge pickup sounds like a Music Man on steroids. Only the neck pickup is more P ish. With both of the pickups is more J - ish.

The body and pickups give a fat - deep sound to the bass, and the maple neck make the sound very bright and snappy too. So it is a pretty aggressive animal.
Somehow scooped... you know - deep lows, aggresive highs.
Very pleasant easy to play, at least to me.
Parallel is the typical humbucker sound. Imagine a JazzBass with the pan pot right in the middle. Series sounds with more mids, a little bit clankier.

I know it is not a proper review, but I hope it helps you have a good Idea. Also it is very light

A Streamer Standard isn't a real "$$". Instead
of those mumbux humbuggers with the 8 large
exposed poles, it has smaller hidden-pole PU's.

It's also another 'one-or-two-trick' pony whose
main voice is gentle, moderate output of kinda
foggy, 'environmental' bass tone. The carolena
body seems about as brite as yellow pine, and
kinda looks like pine as well ... dents easily.

Now if you meant a Streamer bolt-on, but not
the "Standard", I bleeb thaz called the LX and
should sound pretty much like a briter Vett $$,
cuz the Vett is slightly damped by it's swamp
ash body, whereas the Streamer LX is a harder
wood. The tone chain is identical for both.

I just posted some $$ clips (Corvette, not streamer)....maybe they'll be of use to you. I gotta believe the Corvette $$ and Streamer $$ sounds similar.

The sound is similar when you play it gently. If you dig in harder, the streamer $$ is much more "alive" and aggressive than the corvette $$

I think that a SSII is a really versatile bass, i mean i don't know what genre it wouldn't sound good in. Same with a SSI, but i like SII's better

Another question about a $$: Does it works on passive mode when the battery is down/flat?

I'd appreciate the advice of where the switches are located for parallel, series or single coil. Are they two up, two down, one up and one down ? I can't find any answers in any Warwick literature. Thanks
