Hi.

I am buying a Warwick Corvette Standard for my partner for his Birthday and want to know which is best....Bubinga or ash??

Thanks :)

Wow! Your partner is very lucky!

I would say you can't go wrong with either... but the choice is subjective. Very basically, the Ash has a deeper low end, while the bubinga has a growly low mid, which (some of us) are addicted to!

You'll probably get more answers which will describe it better than me!

sadly enough, I'm not one of those better answers. however, if you know what you're doing with basses, check out my topic about the bubinga std. corvette. A lot of people have been helping me out and describing the tone.

it might be easier if you gave us an idea about bands that your partner likes

Wow....that link to the other topic was great it has really helped me! Im relieved as I have already ordered the Bubinga 4 string active and I was worried I had ordered the wrong one but Im happy with my choice now. Im sure he will love it. :D

great choice. hes a lucky guy :)

Yeah....some days I feel a little bossy stating my own opinions as if they were self evident truths, but luckily, today is not one of those days.

GOOD CALL ON THE BUBINGA STD, IT SOUNDS MUCH BETTER THAN THE ASH STD.

Besides, everyone knows that statements made in capital letters are divinely sanctioned and not open to question. :P

You've got a lucky man! I've got a birthday coming up, and I caught my girlfriend sneakily taking pictures of my bass a few days back. She says she's got a surprise coming for me, but I cant think of what it could be! :P Oh! The suspense!

errrr....mate.....shes selling your bass on ebay...

Hahaha! Thats a possibility that never even crossed my mind!

I suspect she might be making me some maple pickup covers or matching knobs. She's an Arts student studying postgraduate sculpture, so she's got the skills for the job....

...ghaa! Its really frustrating trying to guess what she's doing! :)

I like Bubinga best out of the body woods I've tried out - Only tried Swamp Ash, Ovangkol, Lacewood and Bubinga though

I hope she aint planning on sculpting a toilet seat out of your bass mate. But it might sell pretty well on ebay.
