besides tapered strings for my Thumb 5, what other options do I have? I can pinch the string at the saddle and stop piece so it will fit in both locations, but other than that....is there an upgraded bridge and tailpiece out there???? If so I wold but it in a heartbeat.

Sometime early next year, the new tailpieces are supposed to hit the market in the States through DBG that are slotted at 4mm instead of 3.5mm, if I'm not mistaken, and will fit most non-tapered strings above .105's and up to .130's. The only other option is to CAREFULLY file out the slot with a rat-tail file to NO MORE than 4mm. I've done this on one of my tailpieces that now sees regular duty on whichever 5'er that I want to play with large strings. As soon as the new ones are out, I have a standing order with DBG for three of them. Contact your dealer and let them know what's going on and to keep on top of it. I think the retail price is somewhere around $51.80 USD if I remember correctly. Hope it helps, ~M~

There's a new Warwick tailpiece that fits some non tapered strings,DBG will have them.The other options are to file your string slots,or pinch the strings themselves.Just remember the new tailpiece will fit SOME non tapered strings,not all.

well after a half an hour of brutal crimping and such, I am now sitting pretty with .045-.130 on my Thumb 5, w000000000000000000t. get ready thumperton, I will shake Australia from here :shock:

I've never had a problem with non-tapered strings... I've tryed d.r. highbeams and fat beams and they work great with no taper

i had problems with my corvette 5ver but i filed the bridge down (very carefully) and now i can use any string.. ive seen some really horrible rushed attempts at this though so take your time!
