My guess is that single cut basses tend to appeal more to players who like extra strings. I know most of the sc basses I've seen have been mostly 6 stings. If you're going big and beefy, may as well go all the way I guess.

as far as i get it - single cuts are designed that way to improve the balance [neck dive compensation] and to make neck stiffer, more resistant to string pull.

meaning - there's really no point in doing a 4 string SC, apart from aesthetic.

I couldn't resist to join the discussion...

I am a proud owner of a '92 SSI and of a Thumb 5 BO also. I love my Streamer, but I am CRAZY for my Thumb. It is basiucally all of my dreams come true: love the shape, love the feeling of wood, love the thick neck, and of course love the sound.

The only thing that personally I don't really love is how 'far' are the first frets. Being the body so small, it is obvious tha a 34'', 24 (or 26) frets beast is not so docile to handle, at least for my not-so-big hands.

Now, with the brand new Thumb SC, probably things got better, because the bass must be much more balanced. So, what could I ask more? A bass that sounds like a Thumb but phisically a little less demanding! This one could become my one and only!

Can't wait to play it! And, yes: it really looks like a Thumb to me! Oh, lovely! :d

Well, I´ve read the thread and have one thing that I´d like to ask to Daniele: As an "experienced marketing advisor" like yourselve, and apparently the only one that don´t see the Thumb´s shape on the new Thumb SC, I suppose that you have thought about a better name for that bass.

Hey, I don´t intend to flame no one with this, it´s just that, like I don´t really care about 'communication manipulation', and my interests are oriented toward other things like science and arts, and not telling people what to buy or to do with their lives, it gave me a lot of curiosity.8:

Warwick has taken the Thumb SC out of the Thumb family on the main website.
It's a different bass, who needs special attention, perhaps they have agreed.

I think it's the best way to go - set it apart from Thumb NT and BO, but maintain the name, so that it could be known from which model the Thumb SC is born (but visually, it's very easy to notice)
