hope the ssI stays a full maple bass! but for the others, this is the best thing that can happen for warwick. good to hear:)
 
Well the thread leading to this wengé craze IS about SS1 necks ya know... My bet is the mighty Stage 1 will be getting back its original neck.
 
I am sure I am in the minority, but I actually like/prefer the look of the SSI with all maple, but to me its more about the visible neck through from the front that I am not a fan of, so the all maple hides it somewhat.

I though that one of the main attractions of SSI is the maple, and the other is the wide standard spacing. Without these it might as well be an SSII, but this was discussed in the other thread. Or are we going to have SSIII? :o
The other model I like with the maple neck is the Infinity.
I guess I'll wait and see how the new models shape up.
Maybe I should get a maple neck bass, it might become a collector's item :)
 
When I heard wenge was going to become standard, I just assumed that ovankol necks would go back to wenge and maple would stay maple...

No, it IS about Thumb Bass necks going back to wengè. ;)
 
To put all this to rest - the Streamer Stage 1 will remain Maple. And, nearly every bolt-on will change back to Wenge. I hope this helps. Thanks!
 
I can see that Warwick listen to their costomers , not like some other ones . So it s a big + for me .

Thanks for the above clarification, Garey...can you share with us definitively if Thumb NTs, Dolphins, and/or Streamer Stage IIs will also be changing to Wenge as the standard neck?

Speaking of listening to customers; I have always thought that it would be much better to have a satin clear finish as standard instead of oiled finish. I know some people like the whole waxing thing, but some people (myself included) think it is tedious and so difficult to do well (completely) without removing strings, hardware and pickups.

IMO when you buy a new instrument, you don't expect to do anything with it more than the occasional setup and cleaning - but having to wax the bass to keep the finish well is (again IMO) a job I as a customer don't want to do - I just want to play the bass :).

What is the official reason for oil finish being the standard option?
 
Personally I like the oil finish better , but it s me , both my Warwicks are oil finished , but not my other basses

Each their own tastes I guess

Actually it is not the "Standard option", just the cheapest of the 3 standard options :-)
So any Warwick bass can come as standard in Oil Finish, or Satin Finish (or color oil), or High Gloss Finish. There is not one more 'standard than the other, but I guess the shops will order the oil finish one first.
 
Wenge neck and birdseye maple board I hope will be available absolutely the best combination I have ever played. I can't wait until I can have one with a W on it!
