The Heads Up Thread

It's sold anyway.

What I'm saying is that I had my eye on it but couldn't bid because of the frets issue. The 4-string looks attractive but I think it'll go for silly money.

Are all of these chambered?

All three SN basses (Dolphin, Infinity, Vampyre) have the same 2-band electronics and the same pickups in the same spots. The Dolphin and Infinity are chambered, and the Vampyre is solid.

The Infinity SN will sound the most different from the NT, as both pickups are a good inch closer to the bridge (and don't forget the 2-band EQ).

SN basses range from $1200-$1600, so I don't know if you think that counts as 'silly money'. The SN basses aren't quite 'slight downgrades' of the NT versions. Several concessions were made.

Care to Elaborate ? The SN TCS series always looked like Premium Sh*t to me, with a lower price tag because of the Set NEck making it "easier" to produce than the NT ones... NOw, I'm happy to pay less for a whitedolphinsntcsfivestringthatisherebutihavenomoney TCS, but I'm pretty sure they'll still sound Thunderous.
I don't know, these past years, I've been changing my mind... From "I need a Jazz Bass Neck Thru" to "Precision Bolt On is fine by me" :-)

I think I might have to hold back for a Vampire after all. Pickups too close to the bride are a problem for me.

even my cheap RockBAss VAmpyre sounds like no other bass that i have with these pickups

They were clearly marketed as cheaper alternatives to the 'real thing', and in shops the prices were way closer to BO basses than the NT versions.

ALL SN basses have the exact same neck blanks, 24-frets, and no inlays. Significant, cost-saving deviation right there.

ALL SN basses have the exact same electronics routed in the same spots. Streamlining the production to use the same routing for three models cuts the cost too.

ALL SN basses have 2-band EQs. Granted, on the Dolphin, that's not a change. With the Dolphin and old, old signature models being an exception, the 2-band EQs have been put on the BO-line models. Nobody is going to argue that the 2-band EQ isn't cheaper.

In the case of the Infinity, you're not having a figured top or F holes. Huge cost savings right there.

The online specs don't mention it, but each of the real NT models of these instruments have a push-pull knob that singles a coil of the bridge pickups. Do the SNs?

Heck after reading this list, the SNs seem like fancier BO instruments than stripped-down NT instruments. Not knocking them, but they don't inherit the top-of-the-line pedigree of their NT counterparts.

Sounds like the Forte line of Spector.
I do like it.
Tone at the simplest.
That must be because Cost effectiveness is my day job. :-)

I just want a 5-string warwick with P pickup and not an ash body. JH with the H in the Stingray position might work, too. Can't be that hard but I am cruising ebay for months.

What's with the constant truss rod problems?

What in the world happened to this poor 'vette...
Could be a good base for an AsturHero Doctoration. But the neck... :@

Yes, push-pull for single coil. And while the electronics maybe simpler, the set neck goes so deep into the instrument, it plays like a NT more than a BO. See the .

I'm the high bidder for now on the infinity sn 4. So no one here is allowed to challenge me, lol. Good luck, I will wait for others if my bid is topped. I'm looking for either an infinity or dolphin. SN or NT

that is that vette i circle around 2 weeks...it has the nut damaged, dont know if the entire trussrod is damaged...for that i asked schlo and HArdy.... i am on the trigger to do that

We can do what I did with avis.de back in the day.

Me and a friend or a couple friends put the money into a hat and get the item without competition. Then you flip a coin and the winner gets the item.

it goes to quick up that Thomann Vette :(

and the german vette the guy will not go under his 285 € :(
