The Heads Up Thread

Well that was from 1994, which you can't compare (if it was a European ad) since we all use the Euro now.
My 2005 Corvette LTD 5 string was ~1900 euro new, while a 2015 Streamer LTD 5 string will run you 4.233,90 euro.

Now i'm not an expert, but I'm sure inflation over the last 10 years wasn't anywhere near 125%.

This was a US ad, so the Euro bit is irrelevant.

These were standard models too (obviously before LTDs) - I don't know what to make of the LTD prices, but the standard models seemed to adjust roughly with inflation.

It's hard to find old pricing info on Warwicks, but I dug up an old thread from 2007 which showed a Stage II selling new (street price) for $4,079. New today, on the street (if you can find them), seems like they go for around $5,600 or somewhere in that ballpark. Over the last 8 years or so, it's fairly close to increasing along with inflation. However, it seems like you see people talking about buying new Warwicks (even Stage I and II's, Thumb NT's, etc.) picking up new ones in the early 00's in the ~$2,000 range. So either there was a big price jump around that time, or they were just finding good deals of either demo models, leftovers, overstock, etc.

I will say that, even though the new costs just keep seeming to jump drastically, a.) there are a lot of new features that have been introduced over the last couple of years that somewhat justify the price increase (especially the flight cases being included now as opposed to the gig bags),and b.) used pricing has stayed somewhat flat over the last decade it seems. It seems like BO models tend to stay int he $900-1,400 range and NT models int he $1,800-2,400 range, depending on the models. But there are also a lot of people out there who price them much higher than the market will support. But notice that the majority of the time, unless it's a particularly rare model, they aren't moving very quickly if at all. They tend to hang around until the price drops or they cut a deal.

I've been nuts ("professionally") over warwicks for about 5 or so years now and I still see bassed that have been sitting there since. They never seems to drop price either so they seem to be happy to not sell I guess.

..it's like the wife has said: sell this bass, you have too much basses..and you make an price that nobody will pay for it, so it stays in your collection ;) :D

Thats just how the prices are right now.
Blame Warwick for making their new German models twice (or thrice) as expensive as before.

However, war wicks typically don't have great resale value....

I've been wanting another Dirty Blonde 5 since I sold mine, but I won't break the bank to acquire it.

Hell, two years ago I got a 2009 LTD Corvette 5 new for around the 2k USD mark, so I suspect some people are just thinking, "I'm selling an LTD bass, it must be worth so much more". Not really the case all the time.

Another Ebay Listing, 1993 Jimmy Earl Signature!

From The Warwick History - Page 60
Jimmy Earl signature
1993 saw the introduction of a new signature bass, this time Jimmy Earl, long time Warwick endorser, was the person the new bass was named after.
The Jimmy Earl signature bass was based on a Streamer Stage I, deviations from the original design were the used body woods (Ash instead of maple) maple fingerboard (so the JE signature has a ‘white’ fingerboard) EMG pickups and 2 band EQ and some specimen had a sparkle laquer.
These basses are no longer build and they are quite rare.
