hey all! just wondering what srings you guys used on your warwicks to achieve certain sounds? as for me i use daddario xl nickel on my vette and the stadard black labels on my streamer. i find they both suit me well in a melodic rock band...
what about you guys? would be nice to hear how some of the other string suit warwicks!
 
I use either Elixir nanoweb strings or DR Colour Coated strings on my Warwicks.

Was think about putting on som La Bella Flats on one of my Streamer 4 strings but I will trade it for a Spector bass soon.. :shock: :oops: :o

So all my basses has either DR strings or Elixir strings..
 
Hey special K, I use Thomastik Infeld jazz strings on my FNA jazzman, and now Elixir Nanoweb mediums on my thumb bass. The TI Jazz strings sound and feel really good on the 'vette. I was in five bands last year ranging from prog rock and metal to wilco/bob dylan type stuff, and it sounded good in all areas. Right now I only have the use of my thumb bass (the 'vette is in storage in Canada) but so far the Elixirs sound great... They are nice bright strings and have been very versatile in the stuff I've been recording.

You're a saint and a sinner, marc...

I use Black Label strings on my Corvette $$ 4 and Yellow Labels on my SR 500. The yellow ones are good for jazz.
 
DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams on the Thumb BO 4.
Rotosound RS 665's currently on the Thumb NT 5.
GHS Pressurewounds on the fretless Corvette 4.

And no I wouldn't trade any of them for all of the Spectors in the world.
 
Just as marcus, i'm using colored, coated DR strings...

I like the top end on the DR Hi Beams. They have a round core instead of a hex, and seem to have a little fuller tone to me.
 
I use DR coloured plus Windmill nickel flatwound on the 6-stringed
 
awsome, well i have a gig on saturday and need to re string my vette, so i might try out the nanowebs or put from dr colourd string on there.. hmm decision time...
 
i'm still waiting the black beauties i ordered from austria 3 weeks ago :(
 
I use J'Dadarrio flatwounds for my fretless. Theyre absolutely amazing, would never put anything else on.

where did u ordered it from? i want to order too! any websites? apprentley i've been searching all over Asia for Black Beauties..including Australia...unfortunately they're out of stock
 
I use either Warwick Black Label or D'Addario XL.
Actually I have a good stock of both kind of strings, bought from Ebay.

When I want a more edgey open growl, I put the Black Label on.
They are perfect for overdriven, pickstyle sound.

When I want a more midrangey growl I put D'Addario's on.
Better suited for rock'n'roll fingerstyle.

Now, If only I could find another Thumb sounding as good as my 1989... :lol: 8)

I think Warwick Black Label are excellent stainless steel stings, my favourite on Warwick basses.

On the other hand I think that either Yellow and Red label Warwick strings are quite crappy...

Taxi - a few people in the forum have recommended these for fretless - so I've already got some for when my fretless Corvette $$ arrives.

I currently use TI flats on my Corvette fretless rockbass - I think they're fine strings - but you have to keep trying new stuff out!

DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams on my $$... They sound great, and if their life is good I'll replace them w/ the same... I last tried some Ernie Ball Hybrids which I really liked but after 2 weeks or so they are completely dead!

Jay, I remember Ernie Balls going dead after a couple of shows myself.

So it's not just me afterall!
 
Jay, I think you might be very happy with the way the DR Marcus Miller's hold up. Mine hang in there for a 5 or 6 months, and that's with a bass thats' onstage for 3-4 sets every Friday and Saturday night. They seem to have a little better lows & mids on my Thumb BO 4 than the Hi-Beams, and for the type of music that I'm playing they growl just right , and after 3 years my frets are liking them.

dude, do you use the stainless steel xl's or the nickels??? i saw a cheap pair of the stainless steel in my local music shop today so might go and try them out!
