street value of an old thumb

I have browsed the whole talkbass and basschat archives without finding any Thumb NT5 for less than 1200.
Maybe one for 1000 but cannot remember which problems it had to truss rod or similar damages.
I can agree that a thumb 87 has no vintage value but to many is just an old bass, but...
If you happen to find one for 700, 800, or 900£, please leave me a message.

eBay and online auction sites is where people buy them cheap... then sell them for more on TB etc. :lol: I could flag any cheapies that I see but as soon as someone highlights a cheap bass on a forum then someone else will bid it up... defeats the purpose. Also, if someone is sitting at home with fingers crossed hoping no-one else has seen it then I may well be doing that poor sole out of a possible bargain :lol:

After a quick search, here are a couple of missed opportunities, not all of them 5's (but in my experience, 5's rarely go for huge amounts more than 4's).

One of our very own members just missed out on a NT 5 Thumb for £700 last year... WITHDRAWN - Warwick Thumb 5 NT 1996 Mint £700 - Basschat.co.uk

Another forum member 'Gremlinandy' also bagged a NT5 for £750 as stated in this thread... FS: Warwick 1990 Thumb original ***SOLD*** - Basschat.co.uk

Shame you didn't fancy a 4 string NT Thumb... £800 - Warwick Thumb bass 1998 - Basschat.co.uk

Another NT4 that went for £700 in the end... Warwick Thumb NT 4 string fretted bass 2001 for sale - Basschat.co.uk

A 6 string NT Thumb £1350 and open to offers... Warwick Thumb bass 1998 - Basschat.co.uk

This one didn't get any interest @ £900 so sold the The Bass Gallery in London for £850... FS: Warwick 1990 Thumb original ***SOLD*** - Basschat.co.uk

Oh and this was one of mine that I sold last year for £750... oddly enough the last owner wanted a bit more than that for it but it didn't sell at his asking price... gone Warwick Thumb NT 4 1990 - Basschat.co.uk

They are out there if you look long and hard enough. :d

It wasn't so much the bass in that thread that I referred to; if you re-read my OP then read the thread you'll see that GremlinAndy states 'within that thread' that he bagged a NT5 for £750. :d

Haha he said "long and hard" haha j/k anyways basses like that you woud figure would go for more than 900 euros whether you have interest in it or not. its a vintge instrument, but its all perception:eek:
