Streamer std?

Is i good ♣♣♣♣ or just plain ♣♣♣♣? Thinking of getting me one! One with the single humbucker, nicely red! Are they any good?
Pros? Cons? How are they compared to a real deal warwick?
And also, is the red finish a lot more "real-looking" than the other ones, like blue or green? Judging from what I've seen on google, it seems that the no-reds look really really cheap, but the red ones look kind of OK... Is it ttrue or is google messing with my mind?
 
They look slightly cheaper than the Rockbass Corvettes for example.
Soundwise is a nice ax, in the end is good ♣♣♣♣ if you ask me, for that money. I mean... you buy good strings you double it's value :-)
You cannot compare with a real Warwick, different feel. But it has the same small body, some may like :-)
 
Sounds pretty pleasant! But I really don't know.. If I get it, it will be by switching it for a 5string OLP with a Delano hybrid pickup, which I kind of like but at the same time kind of DON'T like! It plays nice, but I don't like the plugged in sound.. :roll:
 
I suggest you to buy only basses that you try first. Usually the one that feels better in your hands is the best one for you. It will let you express better, which is more important than the basic sound which you can change anyway using the EQ.
A very good thing is that if you tried a streamer stage II, than you can buy any stage ii (from that era) and you'll have the same sound. Not the same thing you can say about other brands, so be careful, because I was very disappointed once.
 
We talking about the RB STD, or the Warwick STD Streamer. Cause my Wick STD sure don't look cheaper than my RB Vette.
 
Well, they do come with wenge necks, that can't be bad.

I can tell by a quick sight that this one is NOT a Rockbass. Note brass frets and non-Strat-like output jack.
Looks identical to the one in Cristopher Wolstenholme's hands on "New Born" music video :)

I wuz kinda thinking the same thing, but since it was posted in the Warwick forum rather than the RB forum I wasn't sure.
 
That's a Wic, anyone know if you could get black hardware on those? Every one I've seen had nickel. You could exchange the Hardware off an RB with black hardware and it'd look like it came that way, the RB hardware is identical.

Originality is precious to certain overvalued
"historical" or "vintage" marques, but Wicks
retain only modest resale value anyway, so
it's kinda hard to knock them down further
based on some inconsequential mod.

Whaddum trying say is that a $6500 F----r
is really a $1500 used bass, with $5000 of
expensive mythology included, so it's quite
understandable that a single 'wrong' screw,
or a refreshed solder joint, can severely cut
down the mythological portion of it's price.
Myths are just so freakin fragile .....

Anywayz, my own "$$" Streamer Standard
is quite non-original, and I had no problem
paying extra for the mod, a 2-band active
EQ. Unknown model/type, but it says MEC
on the PCB. Stack knob EQ and a push/pull
vol knob for bypass. Modded, or Wick CS ?

You might be willing to pay more for a modded bass. You just don't have to. I see no reason for paying more than I have to for anything.

Just cuz I'm willing to pay more doesn't mean
that I prefer to pay more ! Streamer Stds are
far less common than Vetts, so when I found it
with the 2-band, I just went for it. OTOH, when
I got my modded bubinga Vette, with active EQ
and Bart PUs, it was already tagged way low cuz
Vetts are so common and this one lacked those
very familiar MEC gold logos [has Bart PUs].

I just roll with the moment. I love a bargain.
I never buy anything without discussing price.
But I regret a number of times when I shoulda
just payed up and shut up, and never saw any
similar item for sale again ... ever. OR, worse
yet, is when I pass on something at $900 cuz
thaz just too much, and later when I finally do
want it, the only one I've encountered in the
3 yrs since NOT paying $900, is $1400. Life.

Guess the bottom line is: if it's a fair price pay it. I aint out to rip no one off, sounds like you're the same. So far it's worked out pretty well.

As for the 900-1400 comment. Just did that mate. Not a bass, but just payed 130 for summink that wuz 80 in it's day. Today, seriously. But whatcha gonna do?
