Streamer I preamp adjustment

Hi!
I would be very thankful if anybody could explain me one thing.
There's a little potentiometer on my Streamer Stage I preamp unit. What kind of adjustment it's aimed for? Pickups output? Or may be preamp output? I tried to adjust it with a little screwdriver - it definitely affects the sound. Anybody knows something about this potentiometer?

pre-amp output - in general to be set to equal the level of passive output on your favorite EQ setting.
